I installed zero ASRock drivers when I got Windows 8. I didn't need them and everything works. I don't want to reinstall.
The only thing I installed from ASRock is their overclocker utility.
Then I found Rivatuner, and everything's been golden since.

All of them (bar one which is useless anyway) work when upgrading from Windows 7, but they're horrendous on a clean install, which I just did due to getting an SSD.
There isn't any point in installing motherboard drivers, why do you even bother?
Windows will automatically fetch anything you vitally need.
Not to mention if you install them off the CD it'll be a billion years old

I always end up with a few "Unknown Devices" (or Windows ends up installing old ones...for some fucking reason) so I end up having to get them from the website anyway (fuck the CD, because of what's mentioned above).
I'm sticking to Win 7 for now, nothing I see makes me want to abandon 7 atm.

I think it would be more worth to just stay on 7 until it breaks. There isn't much reason to upgrade to 8.
If you're on 7, unless you have a fuckload of money to burn like me, 8 is 100% optional. If you're on Vista or XP, fully consider Windows 8.
I was on vista.
Windows 8 is like a going from shit to god
Win 8 looks like it belongs on a tablet PC. dafaq is MS thinking?

Guess I hit a nerve there. Thats fine, you guys can have fun with metro. Just stating my opinion.

Not so much that you hit a nerve but you just repeated what has been said over and over and over by people who just glance at 8 and think it looks tablet-y. Give it a shot before you knock it. 8 still has the classic desktop you know and love, and the start menu is now the Metro-style interface, which has the same functionality as it used to and more.

Have you tried reading this thread? Like every other post is about this and why it's not true.

I'll take your word for it.
It's no secret that Metro is fantastic on a touchscreen. I have a Windows 8 tablet and know this to be a fact. It's still completely usable on a regular desktop - it's all about organization.
The only thing I dislike about Windows 8 and metro is the wireless network sidebar, I'm finding it completely useless. I also can't seem to find a list of known connections.
I hate how it closes when you click outside of it, making it impossible to copy credentials.

Ran into this problem a few days ago, why'd they just remove that part of the control panel?
was there ever an app which allowed you to add metro styled tiles to non metro apps in the start screen?

How can I remove the language with US keyboard?

Language prefs -> Options -> Remove US from Input Method.
There is no US keyboard there. The US keyboard only shows up in the language thing on the taskbar.
ASRock's Windows 8 drivers are utter trash. One of them says that it's not compatible with the OS (despite being a special version for 8) and another (also listed as tested and compatible with 8) makes it fail to boot.
motherboard quality is underrated, imo it can make or break the PC experience too easily compared to say, the gpu or cpu
I've had the same problem, the input indicator keeps coming back after restart due to it sometimes.
What you could try is making another language with your preferred settings and deleting the old one.
Not sure if it helps, but I got rid of it somehow, then again the problem could just have solved itself after an update.
How do I change the desktop resolution in windows 8? Right Click Desktop > Screen Resolution is set at 1024x768 and the option to change it is greyed out, and it looks really ugly because it's a widescreen monitor and everything is all squashed and nasty. Before I installed windows 8, it was on 1440x900, so I know it is possible.
Sounds like your display drivers changed so your graphics card no longer has any idea what resolution your monitor is.

The latest drivers for it were made for vista, is there any way to run drivers in compatibility mode or something?
