For the first time in years I'm using IE on a daily bases. I like IE 10.
So I guess I'm supposed to schedule Defender scans through the Task Scheduler now. There are plenty of Google results about how to do it, but none explain what the other three preset Defender tasks do.

Windows 8 on 1920x1080 [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/hugescreen.png[/t] I think I'm feeling sick to my stomach.
HD 6850, and no, still whatever AMD drivers Microsoft has. Also, Catalyst doesn't recognize an AMD card in the system.
AMD drivers suck should had used Nvidia :v: I don't get why a HD6800 series is not being able to use the drivers. They said that there is only support from HD5000 series - HD7000 Also does anyone else have this odd connection bug of some kind when you start your pc? It doesn't connect to the router or something like that , It takes about 5 minutes until it actually sees the cable and connects itself.
i am not having any of your problems
I have a 6950, and no driver problems to speak of.
Ok so I get the idea that Windows 8 is loved here... I thought it was shit? At least all the reviews and stuff said it was pretty crappy, but then again I don't trust those. So, I shall ask you, I am on Windows 7, and updating to Windows 8, is there any benefit?

I just got into w8 with new pc. I like it very much. I like how fast things work on it. And the lack of start button doesnt bother me (I never liked it tbh in previous windows).
start menu looks pretty shitty now that I have windows 8. Honestly I don't even remember it existed.
I keep dumping my mouse into a non existent hot-corner every time I use an old version of Windows.
Thats why I use the Win key.

And when it comes to games/driver support? Does everything that worked on 7 work fine on 8 as well?

I know a lot said that it isn't the jump that Vista to 7 was, but I haven't read any review from a major site saying it's crappy. I haven't personally had any problems.
All i hear from people is whining about Windows 8 and it being shit which it is not.

Does anyone else have trouble booting up chrome? I get this occasionally and I have to close it and reopen. Is there a fix for this? [IMG_thumb]http://i50.tinypic.com/ojnsiq.png[/IMG_thumb]
So, I had to reformat my computer after installing the new CPU & motherboard I got for Christmas, and apparently that counts as a new computer so my Windows 7 key no longer works.. can I use the $40 upgrade version of Windows 8 or do I have to buy the full version of Windows 8 for $99?
Call Microsoft to reactivate the key. It takes like 5 minutes.
Really? Thanks, I'll try that. [editline]31st December 2012[/editline] Okay I called them, the automated voice thing told me my Windows 7 licence has reached it's limit and that I'll need to buy a new one..
I don't think that's how it works. Open up a support ticket or something, I don't think you can "run out of activations".
That does sound pretty good. And when it comes to games/driver support? Other than that, everything so far for me has been compatible.
some games that ship with gfwl have an old version, wich isn't compatible with win8 AFAIK you can just get the newest version from microsoft, and it should work. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5549
I don't really play GFWL games much really, I avoid GFWL so that's not an issue. I use Steam and most games I have are on Steam or Origin.
anyone else have an ipoint.exe error on startup? how do I get rid of it?
can i make it so that metro hot corners only work on one screen?
Great, I try to install Windows 8 from the RTM to Pro

Is anyone else occasionally getting unhandled exceptions with setpoint when shutting down?
Is anyone else occasionally getting unhandled exceptions with setpoint when shutting down?
I used to get those in Win7 every time, haven't installed it on Win8 yet tho
I have a 5870 and sometimes my monitors go blank (like someone unplugged the dvi cable) and come back again. However when they do, only my main monitor is detected so the other monitors are still blank. No idea if this is AMD's fault or microsoft, anyone else have the same problem?
I'm using a 7970 and I've got no driver problems.
