Anyone else having trouble booting with driver signature enforcement disabled?
I need to install an unsigned driver but my computer just hangs at the windows loading screen.
What does Windows 8 bring for tablets that an iPad can't do? Because I'm sure as hell having buyers remorse on my Vivo Tab.
I would only buy a Windows Tablet if it is the REAL Windows and not RT.
Then I could do stuff like this:

(The World of Warcraft video seems to be better though)
Yeah a FPS on a touchscreen how fun could that be

I've seen a lot of these lately:

Certainly better than direct touchscreen contact. I don't know why I'm getting rated dumb for this - FPS games are unequivocally terrible on touchscreens and I can't imagine how bad it'd be to play one on a tablet considering the awkward size and extra heft compared to a phone.
I'd personally just take a stand of some sort and a controller if I didn't have a keyboard and mouse.

civ v is the perfect game for touch

I rated you dumb because you're being ignorant. Yes fps games on touchscreens aren't as easy as on a keyboard and mouse, but what if you really wanted to play and you didn't mind it? I've played many fps games on my phone and I still had fun.

OK, try playing TF2 on a touchscreen and getting smoked by pretty much everyone else. It "works" but it's awful compared to a proper gaming input device

I'm willing to bet it would be better with a single player FPS. Obviously, human players with a keyboard and mouse are going to kick a touchscreen user's ass.
so i don't undesrtand does it come with free doritos or what
Does anyone know how to show how much bandwidth I used on a wired internet connection, it allows me to do the option on wireless but not wired.

Hell, I had to deal with a laptop touchpad when my computer went down the shitter. It seems you are just very negative. Whether all your saying is right or not it doesn't matter in the end.

I can do that with my note II and Splashtop 2 :D. Login in to GW2 sometimes on my phone.
That is such a hack it's crazy.
I think there is a bug with the taskbar. The autohide function won't work, not even after a proper restart.
I'm on Windows 7 at the moment (desktop PC), and I'm thinking to buy the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro ($40) and finally have a licensed Windows. I'm into gaming (Steam stuff) and movies. I don't use a touch pad or any other nonsense like that.
1. How's the performance in games compared to W7? Are there any differences?
2. I heard that shuttering may occur in games that run perfectly on W7, is that still the case?
3. How's the games/apps/drivers compatibility?
4. Is it stable?
5. How's the interface (compared to W7)?
6. Is the upgrade promotion thingie worth paying for?

After being annoyed by a BSOD, I'm liking Windows 8. My only issue is it doesn't detect my nexus 7 at all. Device Manager doesn't even say anything is plugged in.
Other than that, I love W8.

Does the Android debug interface appear at the very top when you plug it in? If you don't have USB debugging enabled on the Nexus 7, then its using the wrong driver. Click Update the driver on the Debug Interface. Then Browse for Driver Software. Then Let Me Pick. Then click the MTP driver.
Hope that's it because that's what happened to me. And I was pissed too.
I'm thinking of getting a vivotab, for my projects and shit. Previously I had a Transformer Prime for my work, but its really too simplified for me to work with. What do you guys think? How does it compare to Android? And how good is it for work? Because I heard its only capable of the Windows 8 tablet mode.
Is it worth the money?
This.

Or does anyone know any windows 8 laptop/tablet/hybrid worth getting?
Does the Windows 8 upgrade assistant upgrade to Windows 8 64 bit, or only 32 bit? From reading on the website it seems like if you have to purchase the disc to get the 64 bit version of windows 8, which is £50 instead of £25. Is this the case, because I'd rather just stick with Windows 7 and not have to fork out £50 to be honest.
My Windows 8 RP just expired today, reboots ever hour.
Out of morbid curiosity... Do those KMS server activation's still work?
And what about the media center key activation bug?
Same here, my laptop started bluescreening just today. Can't remember exactly what it said, but it was something about evaluation period. Better buy it, I guess.

the vivotab is an awful tablet, I own one and aside from build quality and phantom touch issues it's "workable"
keyboard is fine though and screen is awful gorgeous

I kinda prefer if you play FPS if the device has input, and I mean physical input.
civ v is the perfect game for touch
Jeez if I get a next gen Surface Pro (I'm gonna wait it out so I can get a Haswell one and not have shitty battery life) that's going to be the first thing I do.

Yeah, I don't think they'll ever get FPSs to work well on a touch screen.
For that I'll be plugging in a mouse and keyboard.
[editline]16th January 2013[/editline]
Oh man, now I just can't wait. It's just going to be the shit being able to be using a tablet one second that can do normal tablet shit (and play Civ 5) and then the next, flipping out the kickstand, getting out my mouse and keyboard and doing some FPSing.
Guys I'm getting desperate right now. I need to get Windows 8 on my machine to use Photoshop. My Windows 8 disc still hasn't arrived, and I feel stranded on Linux. I'm trying to complete work for my father in GIMP, but I can't learn it enough, in time to do what he needs done and he's starting to get angry and he is impossible to get through to when he's this frustrated. I have tried creating bootable USBs, DVDs, but nothing seems to be working. Does anyone know where I can get a genuine trial windows 8 iso so I can burn it too a disk? I will purchase another fucking license when I get the chance.
Does the upgrade assistant not like your flash drives or something?

Well, I can boot with the upgrade assistant, can I? I tried running it through WINE, but then I learnt that was a bad idea.
Oh of course, Linux.
Do you have any windows 7 install media kicking around?
7 has a 30 day grace period and you could use it to upgrade to 8.
No, borrowed it of a friend, and bought an activation code.
Edit: This problem is depressing as fuck. Is there anyone who has instlaled Windows 8 through Linux before?

I used the developer preview for a while myself: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx.
Note that you can't upgrade it once you have your full version, you have to re-install Windows at that point.
Do you have the serial already and you're just waiting for the install media?
The previews nuked themselves yesterday, they BSOD after an hours use.
I used the wrong word there, it's a developer evaluation. It's the full version of Windows 8 that you can use for 90 days, not one of those pre-RTM versions that expired.

It says 10 days on the download page. I just need installation media. I haven't received a serial yet, but I imagine that will come with the Disk when it arrives?
