I don't know how you thought that you could just install this and adapt in what would be ~16 hours after release. I've run the DP since September/October, and I've gotten used to it. I know that it's different with these "hot corners", but I really don't find it confusing, and, even though it would probably be smart to not remove the start button itself, it does make some sort of sense. It's not harder to move your courser a few pixels farther, and you've got the start button, you know. Besides, in the DP, who actually pressed the start button? I just throw my courser Down in the corner anyway, so what's the difference?
If I was to compalin about something, it would be that the thumbnail that appears is extremely large, and, as of now, I need to kinda think about moving my curser away.
Yeah, let mé tell you, a couple of pixels in the middle of a resolution 5760x1200 is not something that you just throw your mouse at. It's really annoying.

Then use the Windows key? I understand if you find the other hot corners annoying, but I don't see how the start menu should be any trouble.
installed the consumer preview on a laptop, with no previous knowledge of how windows 8 works
seems p decent. honestly the metro thing is a big change but i think for a lot of less-adept more general purpose PC users it'll be a fantastic addition
personally i think i'll default to using the old system, but i'm giving metro a chance and it seems like pretty cool
Awww what happened to CheckM8, I actually played that
Okay, refreshing my PC fixed my issue it seems. Not too shabby.
Is consumer preview better than dev preview?
Can you upgrade Dev preview with it and keep programs and settings?

Yes.
No.
Can you completely turn metro off like you could in the dev preview?
Can you completely turn metro off like you could in the dev preview?
Not that I've found. It would be nice if Microsoft gave an option.
Okay I just installed this and it is working beautifully, I love the design over all and was surprised to see how well done it was for desktops even though there are some minor faults hopefully they're working on a fix.
Also, how can I install the nvidea gforce panel, it seems to crash a lot.
yeah the registry key for the classic start menu is gone as well
yeah the registry key for the classic start menu is gone as well
Well that was known it wasn't going to be there.
the thing that turns me off of metro replacing the start menu is that it just doesnt hold up the same workflow as before
ng
i miss A. having the menu instantly load and B. having the search bar to find files and programs easily
it seems stupid that there wouldn't be some way to disable the metro interface or am i msising somethi

I don't know about you but right now I'm loving how smooth it is to search and getting very used to all these new features. I fucking adore snapping my music to the right side of the screen and it looks way better and doesn't fuck up my desktop
the features are all great and they work properly but theres a lack of instant reaction with some of the menus
ie it takes more effort and navigation to complete a simple task
also how do you split between metro and desktop?

Searching still works like before. Hit the winkey and start typing.

holy moly thats nice
if there were a way to disable the metro's loading animation it'd be perfect but yeah i'm liking windows 8

You can start searching before the animation is finished.

Can I please have a reply on the nvidia control panel?
Where did the Tweet@rama app go to?
IE10 consistenly get better results than Google Chrome on Sunspider and Impact. Any other benchmarks that should be run?
Okay now I'm confused, I've linked my account up on facebook so I can chat to people using the built in messaging app HOWEVER It keeps disconnecting and when I connect it doesn't show my friends instead shows the people on hotmail..
This is confusing as fuck
Where did the Tweet@rama app go to?
In the people app you can read connect to twitter. I don't know how to make a post but you can click a tweet in the feed and reply to people.
Metro apps such as music and video are reporting that my libraries are empty even though in explorer I can clearly see they have things in them. Any ideas?
Has anyone right clicked on the start preview? Apparently Win+X does the same thing.

So that's where they hid all the useful things

Now we're getting close to something useful! Now i just need a good sized button that I'm able to hit. And a way to run those stupid full-screen apps in a window.
I find it really funny that Microsoft has been trying to give us better multiscreen support and then fucks it up with this start menu and so on.

Blargh, my dreadful issue with Windows locking up is back from the developer preview. If I move the cursor against the left border of the screen my OS locks up for 30-45 seconds. Hopefully AMD released a driver for it ASAP.

Fuck I love this
