I use local accounts, because windows live doesen't respect my privacy, and I don't need this feature at all. [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] I think you have to edit the .msstyle file of your windows theme.
How would I do this? I have opened aero.theme in notepad, but I see no references to fonts.
How would I do this? I have opened aero.theme in notepad, but I see no references to fonts.
you need to edit the "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\aero\aero.msstyles" file. You need to open it with a program like "Resource Hacker"
Is there a way to disable the metro theme and have a windows 7 like one?
you need to edit the "C:\Windows\Resources\Themes\aero\aero.msstyles" file. You need to open it with a program like "Resource Hacker"
Oh god Hex files. Haven't looked at these since gmod 9. I'm still finding no reference to fonts when I open it with Resource Hacker.
I'm trying to do a system reset, but it keeps stopping the process and saying "A problem occured during System Reset", asking me if I want to search for a solution, starting the search, and then dissappearing. What could the problem be? [editline]29th January 2013[/editline] Also, are there any Metro-style rss-apps? Where you can add your own feeds? News isn't very helpful, as it only uses a useless list of popular news-sites.
If it's what I think, I had problems doing it on an old install of Windows 8 because the install media wasn't inserted. Try that maybe?
There is no install media, and the program didn't ask me to insert one. I got it online. (from Codename 47)

Man, I'm at least happy that I can sit and browse the web on my RT tab all day and just not give a fuck about charging it. My regular laptop would barely last 3 hours, and considering I use it in half my classes and during my 2 hour break... Also nowhere near as heavy as the laptop. And I have my Vita to play games on.
wait, if i upgrade from my win7 pro to win 8 pro do I lose all my steam games and have to reinsatll them and shit? and if i select for user files to stay, does my desktop stay the same too?
Lucky, I get 3 hours at a push on my T61, thats with Wi-Fi & Bluetooth disabled, the CPU on power saving mode and the screen brightness half the way down. If I'm doing really intensive work I get a little over an hour out of it.
That's my laptop too, I have to have brightness down and everything to get 3 hours. Playing a game on performance mode? 1 hour tops and it COOKS.

What the hell. I had problems using Reset in win 8, and tried to refresh instead. Then it said this: I don't have an installation DVD. I bought win 8 through the upgrade assistant. Can it really be true that I can't reset og refresh my win 8 because I don't have a DVD with it?
Hasn't changed a thing unfortunately.
Odd, it worked for me.
maybe he edited the wrong theme?
I'm new to Windows 8 and I'm wondering if all these apps and stuff that I see on the start screen are taking up resources when I launch the computer? If so is there a way to deactivate all of them
Hasn't changed a thing unfortunately.
Do you have patched the ux theme dll? Afaik you need to do that in order to make the changes show up.
I'm serious about selling my Vivo Tab. $400 flat to FPers, still includes the carrying case and 8GB SD card. Not the device for me, performance issues aren't terrible after a reboot.
Do you have patched the ux theme dll? Afaik you need to do that in order to make the changes show up.
Well, that hasn't worked either, and that is after reebooting also. I tested some custom themes just to check and they work. Not sure what change I made would cause this, but my log-on screen font has gone bold, but still the same font.
I don't understand why there isn't a way to create your own tiles for shortcuts added on metro.. The small icons and the text are extremely ugly. Also my brother just told me that his computer had started twice in the middle of the night when he was trying to sleep. Turns out it was because of me for clicking the media server for his pc that popped up in my computer, below "devices and removable storage".

Oblytile apparently works well, but I'm sure some other people will know a bit more about this than me.

It only creates square tiles though. Would be nice to have rectangular ones as well.
Okay so I'm currently on W7 HP and the £25 offer ends today. Contemplating buying it but I'm not sure. Tempt me
