Now with Windows 8.1 Style User Interface.
I think Blue could be a great idea as long as they keep fragmentation to a minimum.

Well, if they're doing refreshes like that to make it completely useless for desktops then I see why Linux is getting so much attention (AAAND YES, I USE WINDOWS, MAC & LINUX - I know the differences and their strong points)

what
They better add some Metro icons by Windows Blue.

i hope they continue the trend of flattening the interface to the point where there's no reason you should have any idea what's clickable
What is everyone expecting with Windows Blue? I'm hoping that they finally fix the font scaling issues, they integrate the desktop and Metro experience better. Bit of customization features and a moderate speed increase.
A native RGB eye dropper tool would be nice too.

Is that a real icon pack or just a photoshop?
because there is that one app that relies on that windows 95 icon and won't work if it is different in any way
Microsoft are pretty attached to those Windows 95 icons you know, it could take some time to get rid of them.
Ah, these icons are nostalgia for me. I wish i could get them in windows 8.

I know what you mean, but I don't think they would fit in to the overall design. I just launch a Windows 98 VM and play some Chip's Challenge when I'm hankering for some nostalgia.
How do you completely disable the administrator? I went to uac settings and set it to never notify, but I'm still not allowed to uninstall a virus protection program that came installed on my laptop
maybe activate the real administrator.
type the following in a cmd with admin permissions:
net user administrator /active:yes
then login as the real administrator, and remove it. maybe that works.

You always have to have at least one Administrator account.
Also check if the anti-virus software has a removal utility on its website. Some of them get so deeply rooted into Windows they are practically malware themselves.
Half of them are still there.
Okay but how do i make them as default folder icons?
I don't get it:

Don't bother with WEI, it's awful.
Alrighty, so i am running on this Windows for quite some time and my HDD is completely filled with 80% bullshit.
I want to move to Windows 8 with a completely fresh new install. So that these documents won't fill the entire PC from the start.
What is the best way to back up my files and then to go to Windows 8? I will take some time to collect what i want to keep but do i need to put it all in 1 folder?
Secondly, do Windows 7 programs work on Windows 8? Does Compatibility mode works if i want to use a program that only works on Win 7 and below?
Everything that works on Windows 7 works the same on Windows 8, unless they've retardedly checked only for exactly Windows 7.
So im thinking about upgrading from windows 7 to 8, can anyone confirm if this is a legit site to get one? http://www.windows8keys.org/

Professional has a suggested price of $200 afaik, so "90% OFF!!! 49.99$!!! LEGIT!!!" doesn't really scream "yes" to me.
I'll recommend just using this: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/upgrade-to-windows-8

Just put all your stuff on a drive you're not planning to format. It should include stuff in Windows.old if you install over a previous installation as well.

It was too good to be true.
Well if im going to buy a win 8 do i just need the activation code? Or do i also need the DVD to install it?
And does installing win 8 mean that im going to lose all my files and folders? I really don't feel like downloading and installing all my steam games again.

Just backup your steamapps folder, it won't be a problem. The Upgrade Assistant will give you the activation key as well as the .iso, which you will need to burn to a DVD yourself. Alternatively you could get the DVD sent to you, but I'd really not recommend doing that - you can hardly fuck this stuff up, and it takes longer and more money than burning it yourself.

Is there a chance that the steam folder will be untouched after installing windows 8 without backing it up?
Or does the install wipe everything off ?

upgrading will only replace your windows folder and the boot manager (if I recall correctly)

untouched
Is there a link to get a Windows 8 Pro ISO out there?
Yes, I own Windows 8, but the upgrade assistant keeps saying that "We can't connect to the internet" and I don't know why. That being said I can't make a bootable disk with the assistant. I'd rather have a bootable flash drive like I had with Windows 8.
