I love the new bootscreen. Do I get to keep it if I uninstall 8 and install 7?
No, the bootscreen is in the kernel.
No, the bootscreen is in the kernel.
Bah, well that sucks. It's so pretty and stuff.
Bah, well that sucks. It's so pretty and stuff.
Well the beta fish boot screen won't be there for long anyway.
First Impressions: Directly after installing and using for a little bit this morning before work The Metro UI is a bit annoying on a PC. They don't tell you how to do anything here and it can be a little confusing. I like some of the changes they've made in Desktop view though such as Ribbon on Explorer and the visual bootloader. More thoughts: After coming home and using it for another half hour and figuring out everything somewhat easily. I guess it's not too bad. I like some of the new icons and how the Homegroup shows user icons now. They need to add more visual cues of sorts or maybe just a plain old control display like on Xbox 360. I still miss the Start Menu.

that would just make them take it less serious
Does anyone know if it's possible to add proper Tile Icons to Apps ? I hate how normal Applications got a stupid small Icon.
I like using the start screen on my laptop but not my desktop. Just seems nicer for some reason.
How the fuck am I supposed to close metro apps quickly short of going to the top left and right-clicking each one and picking "Close"
I've just been using Alt+F4, I wish there was an easier way if there isn't already one that I don't know about.

(It's started after 8 is already booted) [editline]1st March 2012[/editline]
I've just been using Alt+F4, I wish there was an easier way if there isn't already one that I don't know about.
Grab the top of the app, drag it to the bottom.

Yeah, I noticed how when you start Windows 7, it reverts back to the Standard bootloader, which is not too bad actually because the Windows 8 bootloader is very slow on my Computer. (Probably because Win8 is not installed onto the SSD) Edit: Also it's seems there is some Kind of autocorrection build into this, how do I get rid of it?
Also it's seems there is some Kind of autocorrection build into this, how do I get rid of it?
PC Settings > General
PC Settings > General
Ah thanks, I kind of oversaw that. The more I use Windows 8, the more I get comfortable with it. I think I might really consider upgrading to it when it comes out.
One person called Windows 8 CP a console port. ...I laughed
I like using the start screen on my laptop but not my desktop. Just seems nicer for some reason.
I feel the same way. Maybe it is because a laptop is more like a tablet? Even the crappy worn out touch pad in my laptop feels better to use in Windows 8 than a mouse.
Trying to sign into the live app.. all I get it 'You're signing in with an account that's different from your Windows region. To sign in with this account, please change your Windows region and restart the Xbox LIVE app.' I've already changed the windows region and it's not working :/ [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Now it says 'Sorry, sign-in isn't supported in your region at this time.' Microsoft doesn't care about UK residents at this time..? :(
One person called Windows 8 CP a console port. ...I laughed
Windows 8 is to desktops what consolized games are to PCs.
Something I'm not really liking about Windows 8 is that it's kinda hard to navigate the metro apps as everything is so fucking big (optimized for touch). Metro would be so awesome if they actually adapted the metro apps to pointing devices that are precise and don't need bigass icons and buttons. Plus it'd save space.
I find it easier. You can hit 100x100 instead of a 32x32 area much more easily.
huh, why are my apps in German now, everything is set to be in English, yet all apps are in German. Well, I'm pretty sure English is supported. :<
Now whenever I hover by the lower corners of the screen Windows 8 freezes up for a few seconds. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Nevermind, just any corner of the screen does it.

[editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Nevermind, just any corner of the screen does it.
I had it once, just a reboot fixed it. AMD GPU? Heh, how am I going to install languages if it's empty. If I select "Language name" again all languages appears but it doesn't stop there. I can install languages that doesn't have any regional variants because the button simple becomes "Add" when selecting one, when selecting one that got regional variants it gets replaced with "Open" which would obviously show the variants but it's just empty for me, great. :suicide:
I had it once, just a reboot fixed it. AMD GPU?
EVGA nVidia [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Tried rebooting once, gonna try again now that I've installed the nVidia drivers. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Rebooted and it's fine now.
I am impressed by that boot menu. Just about finished installing it alongside Windows 7 on my other machine. Install was fast and everything is pretty seamless.
Once you boot to Windows 7 again, you'll be on the old keyboard oriented one again. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] To be honest; While it does have some nice features, I'm not that overall impressed by Windows 8. If it was cheap, I'd probably go for it, but otherwise I might skip. Let's see the RC before I make a solid decision though. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] I see some of this stuff and wonder why we didn't have it in Windows 7 though. But then I wonder why we didn't have all the Windows 7 stuff in Windows Vista.
I like this OS, using IE with in metro, not using a tablet or touchscreen but yea, whatever :v:
+1 not reading thread skill
Sorry for not reading 23 pages.
Everything is working smoothly after yesterday, I've not experienced any lock ups just yet which is new and every app seems to be functional.. I must be the lucky one?
Damn that charm is getting annoying. I actually ended up creating two bat files to make it easier to power off and reboot. shutdown /s /t 0 FTW.
