neat you can close apps by dragging them down
Remove the entire metro crap and you have a decent and bloody fast OS.
I think they already did that once [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Would it be possible to disable the automatic hibernation on shutdown thing?
Oh god help, windows 8 changed my windows 7 drive to E instead of C
Friend installed Windows 8 without partitioning his hard drive and now would like to go back to windows 7, anyway he can possibly do that or is he boned?
is there a way to change the volume of the music app while it's in the background?

Windows 7's
I've ran into a problem. I follow the steps here: http://blog.concurrency.com/infrastructure/dual-boot-windows-8-from-vhd-using-windows-setup/ but then I get these errors when I go to "Install Now": and How do I fix this?
I tried the CP with a Promethean board today. I'm thoroughly impressed. The one thing I don't like is that they reduced the tolerance for opening the charm bar and the open app list, which sucks. Still very fun to play Cut-The-Rope with a massive screen + pen :v:
The volume wheel on my G15 makes this neat thing come up:
Same on my G110 :)
I am loving Windows 8.
I'll probably upgrade my computer to Windows 8, if not just buy a whole new computer with 8 on it. I'm looking for something new and this might be it.
As much as I dislike the Metro interface currently, I'll probably still end up getting Windows 8 for the other improvements. Hopefully it gets added to MSDNAA at the same time it comes out so I can get it for free :v:
That'd be cool, sucks that my college isn't in it though. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Maybe a discount though?
I can't get steam to update, its sticks at 99%
I had this problem too. I fixed it by installing it from an existing OS, using the setup file.
You mean just running the setup off of Windows 7? When I do that I get this: and this I've decided I got a bad .iso and I'm going to re-download it overnight.
Okay so I've decided I will write this review because this is what windows 8 reflects on me. I think windows 8 overall will be fantastic for people who love metro and/or has a xbox or used/has a windows phone will enjoy this. Even though I own a desktop I'm noticing how fast it is compared to windows7 and also finding that I can do more task without a decrease in RAM and also multitasking more easier than ever. The 2 control panels are annoying as fuck, hopefully they'll have one overall universal settings panel to do everything you need either that be from metro or explorer. Internet Explorer 10 seems to crash a lot and lock up, hopefully when they make it metro it'll be better. Windows store seems to have great potential hopefully microsoft won't fuck it over, people should enjoy it with a tablet or not. I'll probably favour it over than going to download websites now. Messaging + People is great, I can now message people better and look at statuses with ease with it, great implantation. Weather seems good, just needs a Celsius option. The right toolbar (the one that is hidden and contains devices, start, search etc.) should be easier to access not harder. Metro snap is probably one of the greatest things from the traditional snap, it doesn't seem to fuck up the resolution much and makes doing work and using metro apps easier than ever. XBOX live is not here in Australia for PC's which is disappointing, I would love it but we can't have it. To me it seems like microsoft may bridge the gap between GFWL and combine it with XBL which may mean the same shit like monthly subscriptions for shit that should be free. If this is the case it is going to be piss annoying but meh anyway steam is better and xbox I would only use for school friends. Overall, it is looking good.
I can't get steam to update, its sticks at 99%
I've been using the same installation since 2006, what I do is after the OS is installed, run it as administrator, restart it, it'll give you some error and ask to install the service, and it should run after it installs the service.
Metro apps such as music and video are reporting that my libraries are empty even though in explorer I can clearly see they have things in them. Any ideas?
Anyone? I wouldn't mind trying out these apps.

Hey, can I get someone who knows dual booting to help me over here?
How do you access tabs in the metro IE?
Hey, can I get someone who knows dual booting to help me over here?
You're welcome. Have fun.
You're welcome. Have fun.
Thanks so much!!!
But I thought the DP can't be upgraded to CP?
Look at what I quoted again.
How do you access tabs in the metro IE?
Right click somewhere.
The Developer preview looks soo much better :(
The Developer preview looks soo much better :(
Shit, that means they're getting worse then.
So the consumer preview isn't detecting my 560M GTX, it just shows "Microsoft basic display adapter". Drivers says it can't detect a compatible nvidia card either. What the fuck is up? It worked fine in the Developer Preview.
