On my Windows 7 disc, I slipstreamed all available driverpacks to the DVD. I wonder if this works with Windows 8, using
Windows 7 drivers... seeing as Windows 8 can still use Vista drivers just fine. So it might be possible. 7 can still use XP drivers for certain things, when no vista/7 drivers exist.
On some ancient PC with Windows 7 ThinPC, I managed to get away with using Windows 2000 graphic drivers. That was probably out of sheer luck, or XP and 2000 drivers are pretty similar.
My sound drivers decided to fuck themselves over. They were installed, but weren't. Apparently, installing the Windows 7 drivers from the tablet manufacturer fixed it.
i went and found the realtek drivers for my sound card but still had the same problem :((

Odd, it looks like Microsoft was editing the traditional on screen password with a metro sort of layout, ditched it and went with another approach.. But why didn't they delete it?
I think Win8 is gonna be called Windows Aqua because of obvious reasons.

It's going to be called Windows 8.

Didn't they say it's gonna have another name like Vista at release?

No.
Dammit my Win8 still doesn't recognize my laptop's battery :C
It's under 'hidden devices' in device manager, and says it's unplugged. I have no idea what drivers to install, on Win7 Microsoft's drivers work just fine. Any ideas?

If you're talking about the fish, it's just to show that it's beta. Maybe same for the color scheme, the branding is usually done in the rc/final version.

Yeah and the Windows 7 beta had the betta fish too.

So, guise, I think I'm gonna format my Windows 8 partition and either give it back to my C:drive or install Ubuntu.
Reason being that this morning, when I started up my computer, it went into "Attempting Repairs." It stayed there for almost an hour before it said it couldn't repair itself and allowed me to boot windows 7.
I'm trying to apply for college and scholarships and all my essays and stuff are kept on my computer. I cant afford to have it lock up on me.
Do you think I'm over reacting, or am I right to be scared about the instability of Windows 8 fucking me over?
I like the windows 7 bootloader better. Need to find out how to restore it...

Windows 7 Recovery Disc. Torrent sites have them if the official Microsoft download is too slow.

Same reason why you find a lot of unused content in some videogames
Mine came back once I booted to Windows 7.

Set 7 as default.
Wait for RC before you get too critical.
MS doesn't really use Beta/RC as consistently as say, the Firefox project (if they still do RCs)
They release the betas very late in the development cycle. The RC typically contains nothing at all but bug fixes, and is later released with further bug fixes (unlike a real RC which gets released as the final version).
So we have a version that is getting dangerously close to final. They are making changes though so hopefully the whole UI and UX gets better as opposed to worse.

In software development, when you get closer to release, deleting is more likely to cause bugs than not deleting.

So everyone else releases the RC as final even if there are still existing bugs?
So everyone else releases the RC as final even if there are still existing bugs?
No, they then release another RC.
No, they then release another RC.
You missed my point.

Like chunks of cheese in Perfect Dark, or the mysterious "island" in Goldeneye. Either the devs for the N64 were just sloppy, or it's difficult removing things from an N64 game.

Valve leaves unused content in their games as well.

Like what? I haven't payed much attention to things "left behind" in anything of theirs, except for the recycled HL2 sounds in their other source-based games.

That's because they're not used in the game.
You missed my point.
What is your point? No, everyone else does not release versions full of bugs, I don't understand how you got that from my post.

erm
What is your point? No, everyone else does not release versions full of bugs, I don't understand how you got that from my post.
Microsoft does it the same way every one else does. The release an RC, if it's good enough it goes through, otherwise they fix whatever's wrong with the first RC and then release another RC.
So, are there any skins for making Windows 8 look like 7's exact feel?
I'd switch to 8 for the performance but I still love the feel of 7.
It's been fun using Windows 8, but the current bugs I'm having with it I'm kind of forced to go back.
I think it's true for a lot of people that when we install something, we want it to work out of the box, be that with things Windows has built in, to something included in the installer or whatever. I don't want to have 64-bit programs essentially broken because Windows 8 decided to install an update that breaks it. That's not great.
Granted, I shouldn't be using beta software to do video things on, but I'll admit I expected a better production quality from Microsoft, even in their betas.
Now don't get me wrong, I actually love the Metro look and the Start Screen (though I realise it's not for everyone). I just find it frustrating working against, instead of with the OS.
I've noticed there is a small bug with explorer when it crashes, locks up my computer for 5 minutes, fucks up the display and creates glitches then it comes back into focus a little slow but better than before.
