So, what are the chances of completely disabling metro apps, and getting the old start menu back in the final release?
Is it possible to do it seamlessly with 3rd party software?

If so, I'm hoping I can slipstream it to the install disc.

I still don't get it... You don't install Windows within Linux Mint, unless you use Virtualbox or similar.
Can somebody help me out with the windows 8 store, my dad can access it with ease but for me I can't. I have 6 new updates and I'd like to install them..

Little help? Consumer Preview, Songbird, playing music, every 2 seconds or so I hear a little crack or static in the sound.

Upgrade sound drivers to newest available version, even try beta if it fixes the problem. If it's onboard, a BIOS update *might* help, but doubtful. Make sure you have the latest DirectX installed as well, for DirectSound.
My laptop's sound started crackling and making hissing and high-pitched whines, so I picked up a C-Audio USB soundcard the size of my thumb. Works well for movies and music. It supports XP/Vista/7/8/Ubuntu/Mint OSes without additional drivers too! It's literally "Plug&Play".

Hotmail account is linked perfectly, the router wasn't the issue.

You can change something in the registery to remove all the Metro-related stuff. Use it carefully tho, it locked me out of everything once and I had to reinstall Windows. It was because I was stuck at the login screen but there was no user to click on.

So since yesterday I keep crashing about every hour. Now Im reinstalling Windows 7...
Jeez, even Win Dev preview was more stable...
My Windows 8 install crashes at least once a day, seemingly triggered by odd things. Think I'll go back to Windows 7 now, hopefully next time I try Win 8 it will have a few changes to the UI as well.
Yeah, is there another preview coming? Or will the next version be the final one? Anything about that, yet?

I'm sure there's going to be a release candidate, they'll just give it some wacky new name.
Not sure if anyone else is getting this, but I'm finding explorer to be very unstable. Every once and a while it crashes, and it seems copying files while doing anything with it speeds up the process.
So once again is window 8 stable enough to use as main os? mainly becouse im looking for a few extra fps in gaming

Extra FPS? I doubt you'll get that with the current Win8 drivers.

OEM Preview. :v:
There was some noise going about that it'll be called the Enterprise Preview around the same time people were saying that the Beta was going to be called the Consumer Preview.
Don't see why enterprises would want 8 though as it's clearly not made for businesses and enterprises.

I actually got around 5-10 more fps in Battlefield 3 compared to Windows 7. Most of my games felt a bit smoother actually but I didn't bother looking at the fps.

I've been using it as the main OS for like a month and so far I've had no issues apart from a little explorer crashes but that's rare. It works perfectly fine

Does yours go all black with the metro start preview thing in the top corner? Because that is what happens for me

Of course it was.
What you have just said is like saying "My OS, Windows Vista is slowing down my computer and the programs i use, manages itself very badly, does endless tasks on my HDD, is wasting my time by making me click the UAC notifications every time i open up everything and is resource hungry, but i am OK with it".

Actually it was faster than XP for me, and disabling UAC was one of the first things I did after installing it.
But hey, let's just blame the OS for being slow, and not the ancient hardware or tons of useless background processes you probably had running
