Where can I get this start button for Win7? http://i.imgur.com/h9bdt.png
What the hell? How is this a dumb question? I know it's for Win8, I just want to change my current start button to this one because I like it more and I know it's possible.
I know it's opinion but
Windows 3.1 - Major improvements to the GUI, includes a program manager, better support for colour monitors, preferred for businesses - got the work done
Windows 95 becomes the foundation for the next generation of Windows all along to Windows 8
Windows 98 improves the taskbar and becomes more internet friendly - windows update included
Windows ME is a piece of shit because of the included windows recovery which put bugs back into the computer, last of the 9x series.
Windows 2000 is designed for businesses and runs on windows NT but becomes popular to consumers. Balloon notifications come into play.
Windows XP includes better themes instead of the yucky windows classic, makes it more easier to preform task by making it hardware friendly. Windows XP is generally well received and becomes a classic in the computer world.
Windows Vista uses a new design scheme called Aero, it makes it more user friendly but does contain some bugs that put it off from people. Even though many call it a piece of shit, it is actually not a bad OS.
Windows 7 is the OS many critics say what windows vista should of been. Expands on Aero and becomes tablet friendly by allowing people to pin programs to the taskbar, more friendly to the hardware and UI. More people make the switch from XP to 7 with its wide range of backwards compatible options (like windows XP mode)
And now Windows 8.. Even though it is in Consumer Preview stage the OS is shaping up to bring Windows back into the tablet market offering apps and the metro UI. Windows 8 also includes linking your computer to your MSN account, the ribbon UI and the hiding of the start button.
Did I mention the logo?
Overall, people who see new versions of windows shit are not keeping up with the modern trends of today, Metro looks good, feels good and is generally good. Better than the glossy bullshit in Android and Apple.

If anything, Android is starting to move away from glossiness. With ICS, the UI looks to have gotten a lot flatter.

Wasn't that in the first beta?

ICS looks way better, I think less glossiness = better
I have com to the conclusion that Windows 8's metro interface doesn't work well on a laptop's trackpad, especially since drivers for scrolling don't work. I will not be using Windows 8 on my laptop. I'll tolerate the Consumer Preview until it breaks, and then Windows 7 is going back on. It's bullshit that they can't even give us modern mouse drivers in 2012.
My trackpad works fine in 8.

I think we should leave drivers out of the equation when judging windows 8's performance on a laptop. Wasn't there a guy some pages saying it was shit because it didn't work with his graphics drivers or something?

I wasn't judging performance, the mouse should work as intended after Windows installation.
I used a laptop with a trackpad on it and it worked great, scrolling was smooth and you could zoom in and out by using the pinch technique.
Touch screen still better
I just realized how much better Metro would feel on my laptop if I could scroll through the tiles with horizontal scroll instead of vertical on the touchpad.
Is there a way to make it do that or does it work by default?

Performance isn't only "Computer boots in x amount of seconds". Besides, both my and Panda's trackspads seem to be working just fine.

When manufacturers start including better trackpads, yeah.

Well my trackpad already supports horizontal scroll if I run my finger along the bottom edge, as do most trackpads I think.
[editline]23rd April 2012[/editline]
Like this: Red is the horizontal scroll area and green is the vertical scroll area on my trackpad.

This download to an iso on the first page, if i download it and install to an old laptop (with the correct specs) it should run fine?
Well it depends if the drivers are stable, but generally it should work. Just remember to backup your stuff before you install.

Many don't by default but if you spend any amount of time configuring your trackpad drivers you can enable it easily.

I like how they left out Windows 2000
I like how they left out Windows 2000
Not to mention Windows NT, the father of 2000

I bet they think Windows ME and 2000 are the same thing.

Metro would be really cool with Apple's trackpad, with all the gestures and shit.
Also, I have downgraded back to Windows 7. I like Windows 8, but it's not quite ready yet...
And I liked the Start 8 (not-full screen Metro start screen) more than the old start menu...

Honestly I'd love to have a trackpad jut like the one from apple, just for metro gestures.

I can do that optionally.
Or even have no scrolling.

I've owned 3 laptops, none with horizontal scroll support, bluetooth, or even a webcam.
I've owned 3 laptops, none with horizontal scroll support, bluetooth, or even a webcam.
That really sucks. My current one has all three, my previous one had horizontal scroll and possibly bluetooth.
I've owned 3 laptops, none with horizontal scroll support, bluetooth, or even a webcam.
I still use a laptop that doesn't have Bluetooth (apparently I have the model with it removed, since a key has a Bluetooth logo on it) or a webcam. Then again, it is from 2006 (still a beastly machine for its age though).
Firefox has some bugs with the UI elements at the top of the screen (close minimize buttons.)

Anyone know if there was a fix for that?

Mine can take a wireless card that had bluetooth, or USB bluetooth dongles of course. Just too broke at the moment to care. It's the only way I can transfer photos too and from my phone, since it won't mount via USB.
