I'm really looking forward to the Release Preview. My current Windows is getting slow again. Also, I'm gonna try to dualboot Hackintosh with Win8 again.
I hope the release candidate doesn't bitch about my BIOS, so I can actually install it natively...
New IE10 about screen. It shows what looks like a refined aero window. Me gusta.
It's Aero + Aero Lite. [editline]9th May 2012[/editline] Also: [editline]9th May 2012[/editline] All these images are somewhat old. Only reason I'm posting them now is because they haven't been posted before in this thread.
I hope to hell they align the taskbar elements properly, dat clock! [editline]9th May 2012[/editline] Or here is another idea, would dividers kill them?
Dividers where exactly?
Well, for example when I hover over my clock, it indents sightly. Some kind of ever present visual indication of if you have hit the hotspot on the sides the taskbar would be handy. Without the start button, and the really odd alignment they have going on the taskbar looks really plain. [editline]9th May 2012[/editline] [t]http://puu.sh/tPHe[/t]

How would one go about installing this onto an external hard drive?
How would one go about installing this onto an external hard drive?
I just found this, may or may not work: http://tweaks.com/windows/52279/how-to-create-a-windows-to-go-usb-drive/
Been using windows 8 as my primary OS since the first leak. Now when I use XP or 7 I get very confused :(
I don't even.
I don't even.
I'd hate to be the person to inform this guy that Windows 97 isn't a real thing.

I like how Windows ME is better than Windows 98 and XP under his logic.
I know I said I wasn't going to go over VS11 anymore but due to previous discussions about its UI I wanted to see your opinion on some further changes UI wise. Looks like ass. Same with the menu dropdowns being ALL CAPS.
http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/news2/windows-97-in-beta
Because we'll NEVER need to use 2 whole terabytes. :v:
http://www.windowsitpro.com/article/news2/windows-97-in-beta
It was never released in this form so the guy is still wrong. How can he know if something is better if he never used it?
I've seen some complaints with the start screen and multiple monitors. While it doesn't span they have improved it:
That solves 1 problem I had with Windows 8 but it still seems counter productive to have a full screen start menu. Seems like it's a step backwards when it comes to multi-tasking?
That solves 1 problem I had with Windows 8 but it still seems counter productive to have a full screen start menu. Not to mention the fact when you open the start menu your focus is there not off somewhere else.
can you have 2 metro apps running on both monitors with another 2 being metro snapped to the edge of both monitors?
can you have 2 metro apps running on both monitors with another 2 being metro snapped to the edge of both monitors?
I doubt it, but I'd like to try. Only a couple more weeks until the RC is released and we can test it then.
Multi tasking how? The start menu closes automatically when it loses focus. Not to mention the fact when you open the start menu your focus is there not off somewhere else.
If I want to search for a file or whatever from an application I can just press start on 7 and type it in and look at the name on the application to make sure I didn't spell it wrong. If I can't look at the start menu and an application at the same time I will probably have to use explorer to search. If I am watching or reading something and want to open an application I can just press start, type the name and just press enter on 7 without even looking at the start menu. It is rather disruptive when it opens a start menu that fills the whole screen so I lose my place reading.
You read/watch AND open programs at the same time? How? What happens when you open the program?
You read/watch AND open programs at the same time? How? What happens when you open the program?
Well I don't need to look at the start menu in 7 as the first result from searches is automatically highlighted. I generally keep what I'm reading or my media player at the bottom right of my screen so new programs don't get in the way. Anyway my point is that it is unnecessarily disruptive to have a full screen start menu open and it wastes my time.
I really hate where windows is going with those metro screens, and probable some other stupid stuff they will put in. its good for tablets but please keep it away from my desktop/laptop. what was wrong with operating systems 10 years ago. I'm talking about appearance overall look and feel, not ram usage and other technical stuff. Seriously 10 years ago it was just plain start button and some plain icons on your desktop. Now its all colorful floating rainbow buttons everywhere, magic useless sidebars and many more jinglebells. Just give me back my look and feel of windowsXp, with the functionality of todays. i just prefer a organized start button where i can see all my programs that i use allot. Than looking at some buttons, i feel like a monkey in a test lab who will get a banana for pressing all the right buttons. The only reason i haven't moved to linux or Apple is because of compatibility with programs i use allot, like 3ds max.
