Yeah, a lot of PCs still run on Pentium processors, and since Windows 8 is designed to require less power to run effectively (such as on tablets), I'd imagine we'll be seeing more Pentium/Core2 processors.
well as long the start menu extensions work in the final release i will be happy i mean seriously with out it how the fuck im supposed to even browse my PC
Press win+e? Start explorer from the metro interface? Use the default pinned icon on the superbar? Click any of the icons on the desktop that's either My computer, my documents or recycle bin? - Aka browse your files in the same way as you would on any version of windows.

Oh the freezing bug only happens on Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge apparently. I have an old Core2Duo; my obsolescence has actually saved me from bad performance!

Hmm, well, mine is Conroe(Allendale), and yours is Wolfdale. Are you using the RP? I'm still on the CP, so maybe it doesn't happen there.

k thanks I'll stay away from the RP
so much better than my Windows 7 install, that damn thing was using 4GB of RAM while iTunes and 1 folder was open (not exaggerating either)
so much better than my Windows 7 install, that damn thing was using 4GB of RAM while iTunes and 1 folder was open (not exaggerating either)
iTunes.
iTunes.
was using 200MB of RAM.
Just use Clementine instead
http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-8-rp-freezing-bug-reportedly-fixed
i wish they would push this out via windows update
was using 200MB of RAM.
You missed an order of magnitude from the end.
Windows 8; Cool, not for business, just for show.
was using 200MB of RAM.
That's what it wants you to think. Apple was using their evil socialist liberal gay rights agenda magic to fool you into thinking they weren't the problem.
I've made some minor adjustments to my tablet and I can pretty much say it's done, my new battery pack has also recently arrived
What exactly is that comprised of?
What exactly is that comprised of?
Tablet materials.
Tablet materials.
I'm guessing two ingots of Tabletite, a small sack of rough-hewn glass, and an enchantment of usability?
I've used my old and somewhat broken Asus A6JC as a base, chopped it off and inverted the LCD screen, modified the body so it could be placed upside down(?), had to make some adaptations in the LCD cables so it would connect properly, had to make more changes in the LCD bezel too so the resistive panel I've bought from a dealer would fit, cut it a little so it could do it perfectly, Removed the DVD drive to place the digitizer inside and other stuff inside it (No one uses physical media anymore), Shrunk the panel's ribbon and soldered it to the digitizer, then I've soldered the digitizer into the motherboard (What a pain it was, considering the soldering iron wasn't sticking to the board), Originally it was sitting outside in a standard USB port, after the touchscreen was working I had to modify the driver so it could be recognized as a touch panel instead of a mouse, so Windows 8 gestures could work, luckily this hacky technique wasn't need in the Release Preview, also I've replaced the cells of the battery, which were dead and started to heat up when I was replacing them :rolleye:, I had to make a custom power button to power it up, but I was afraid of the soldering iron not sticking like before, so I've made a mechanical side power button, and I'm planning to replace the HDD with an SSD (CF cards in IDE slot can do wonders) Big wall of text, but in a nutshell it's basically this, I might have forgotten a thing or two, I have some pictures of the building process but I've never bothered to organize them
Man did you take pictures of the process? you should make a thread about it!
Anyone know what will play blu-rays in windows 8? WinDVD, PowerDVD, and VLC refuse to work.
did you try this http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/
Having some issues with Windows 8 on VMware.
Here is the truth.. Windows 8 sucks, now it's said.
Windows sucks, yet we all use it. (Or actually most of us)
did you try this http://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/
Doesn't work. VLC either crashes or it won't play the movie.

So how did you install w8 on it in the first place, must 've been a pain in the ass?
