Here is the truth.. Windows 8 sucks, now it's said.
thanks for your opinion.
Soz mates, I ment 8 :v:
why does it suck, though? list reasons that aren't metro
Anyone know what will play blu-rays in windows 8? WinDVD, PowerDVD, and VLC refuse to work.
VLC + AnyDVD HD = Blu-ray bliss.
I already said some reasons in this topic, I will write them again. I installed Windows 8 on my Laptop. I hate the design, it freezes. It has a FPS drop, 7 has way better FPS.

Now, what sounds more likely: you have a problem and Windows 8 is not actually terrible - or - Windows 8 is terrible and everybody else is just fucking lucky?
It is called a beta version for a reason. You still list the design a a reason why it sucks It runs at the same FPS every damn OS in the world does.

Besides that one freezing bug everything runs a lot faster than windows 7, not to mention boot up times being about 10 seconds and I don't even have an SSD in my laptop.

Going from XP to 8 would be quite the odd experience.
Going from XP to 8 would be quite the odd experience.
They will all bitch and then demand XP be supported longer. Microsoft will then proceed to tell them all fuck you get on 7 you old fucks.
Yeah they should definitely offer XP -> 7, because I know a lot of people who won't have the patience to learn 8.
Yeah they should definitely offer XP -> 7, because I know a lot of people who won't have the patience to learn 8.
In all honesty they've been out of the loop for a long while and it's completely their responsibility to catch up. It is going to take some getting used to, but that's what you get when you stay behind. I don't believe it's Windows' fault.
I doubt there will be very many people on XP that have computers good enough to run 8 that haven't already upgraded, but do plan on upgrading.
For the last 4 weeks I have been using Windows 8 on my laptop (Some C2D at 2Ghz and a 8600GT) which I use as a media-center computer and I love it. With large DPI, the Metro start menu is a joy to use on my TV-screen and it is very easy to navigate with the wireless keyboard I use. The system runs good and it starts up extremely fast. Great job Microsoft. I still can't see the real benefit of the Metro start on a desktop though.
Just installed Windows 8 Release Preview. The DVD drive is finally working. Fuck yeah.
I'm considering dual booting Windows 8 preview with Windows 7. I've set up dual boots between 7 and various Linux distros before, but is there anything special I'll need to know? [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] Also are there any reputable torrents available for the dev preview? Because I really don't like downloading such large files through Firefox and I don't trust TPB for OS images.
If you choose 7 on the OS selection screen, your PC reboots into 7.
I'm not entirely sure I understand the significance of that.
I'm not entirely sure I understand the significance of that.
It's annoying and takes longer. Any time you want to go into 7 you must first boot into 8 and tell it to boot into 7. You can set 7 as the default OS in msconfig and it'll go back to the original dual boot method.
and if your hard drive is gay as my laptop's one, it'll ask you to perform a disk check everytime you do that.
Anyone that has the freezing issue (Panda?), an official fix has been found. Workaround for Windows 8 freezing issues An official workaround, courtesy of Microsoft Senior SDET hero Tripp Parks, is now available for those experiencing Windows 8 freezing issues. Simply open an elevated command prompt, issue the following command, and reboot: bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes Seems to have fixed it for me.
Curious as to what this dynamic tick is.
i'd try it but i'm literally leaving for 2 weeks in 6 hours so i'll just put it in notepad
Belkin F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter not compatible
so is this a false negative or if I go to win8 will I be dead in the water
Ordering a laptop this week, planning on upgrading it to 8 later. Anybody know how that is supposed to work? I read that there is a $15 upgrade option from Microsoft, but how do I access it? Also, is a SSD really necessary to store the OS on? Are the boot times really that much faster on it? And do I get any other benefits?

Just make sure you set Photoshop's scratch disk to something else, not the SSD.
