A lot of features can still be put on old devices though, e.g. Passbook, new maps (not the 3d part)

High DPI is probably needed for passes to scan properly.
But Passbook is on the 3GS isn't it?

doesn't look like you need retina display to have it scannable
You need the advanced A6 processor for deleting them, though.

i could see how it would be required, the 3gs has a really low res screen
If Apple actually gave a shit about their older devices it would force the device into landscape to make use of the extra screen real estate.
Considering iOS 6 is out for the 3GS and Android 4.0 isn't out for the Nexus One I'd say they're doing a good job about supporting older devices.
I'm surprised they didn't release it for the N1, the custom jellybean roms work brilliantly on it.
That's because they're hacked together like shit.
I like how I got dumbs for this. I had a Nexus S not so long ago. I'm not even going to go into detail on how much I made that thing my bitch, but honestly, you're lying to yourselves if you think those custom roms are anything but hacked together. The only one even close to stable enough for daily usage was maybe MIUI and that ran like ass on the Nexus S. Every other ROM needed massive amounts of fucking around with everything and then it'd work for a few days at best then go back to crashing something. With me, it was always a ton of radio crash dumps. A few hundred of them. If you tell me that's anything but hacked together..well maybe you shouldn't be saying anything at this point if you think 35 crash dumps a day is normal.

The problem with updating Android is it needs new driver sets for the hardware. Since it's an open system it requires a lot more work to get it to work on every phone.
iOS only uses certain hardware thus making it easier to update.

so maybe Google should have gone the Palm road
minus the part where they get bought by HP
Got an outright iPhone 5, it's so fucking fast in compariaon to my 4. Holy tits.
My question for those who own an iPhone 5, is the upgrade even worth it at the moment? I'm not under contract at the moment, but Verizon allows me to resign.
I just don't know yet. I'm more concerned about the 4g LTE speed. Is it significantly faster?

If you have a 4s dont bother. Ive done a speed test on LTE at 40Mb/s. Faster than my home line! :v:

I haven't got a 4s, just a 4.
I haven't got a 4s, just a 4.
I upgraded from a 4. Definitely worth it imo.
i bought a used 4 which ended up still being like $300 so i'm not itching to spend money like that again
I upgraded from a 4. Definitely worth it imo.
Would you say there is a very significant speed boost? I can get the iPhone 5 for about $150 simply because I've been out of contract for the last two years. I just don't know if I'm willing to sign another contract.
Yeah it's a ton faster than the 4. I say do it.
Buy outright if you can, contracts suck.
Buy outright if you can, contracts suck.
I can't exactly afford that, considering how much my rent is for my apartment per month.
I'll think about it. I want to do some more research into it first. I'm the type that'll research a product for 3 months just to make sure that's what I want.
You are obviously flashing the wrong roms.
Shouldn't have to flash ROMs to get a good user experience!
You are obviously flashing the wrong roms.
I'm not an idiot. I flashed the right ones and I tried pretty much all the popular ones. Nothing was as reliable as stock and stock is slow and has bad battery life. 2 hours of usage then the battery's dead? As if the AMOLED being a battery hog wasn't enough, it also uses PenTile. Ugh.
I'm getting a full day out of my NS on jellybean and I don't ever lower my screen brightness from full.
What's your screen on time at the end of the charge?
I'll get back to you tommorow, I'll have been out with my phone all day.
Alright, but on full brightness I can't imagine anything more than 2 hours. I had custom ROM, kernel, scheduler, governor, deep sleep, low volts, underclocked, and still never cracked 2 and a half hours at about quarter brightness.
Tell that to Samsung!
1. Install Apex Launcher
2. whoa dude my user experience rocks
Seriously, that "shouldn't have to flash ROMs" is a bad argument because on most Android phones you don't have to. Even on phones that come with shitty default launchers (cough samsung) there's a bunch you can just grab from the Play Store.
I mean, yeah, on iOS it's guaranteed to come with a decent launcher but Android's problem is because of dumbass manufacturers more than anything else.
Not sure if this has been discussed yet, but has anybody found a decent substitute for YouTube in iOS6? i really miss the app more than I thought I would.

Yeah it's an app called YouTube made by google.
Vastly better than the old apple app.
Screw Google's YouTube app. Look up Jasmine. Made by the devs of Alien Blue.

LiveJasmin is completely different, you know.

If only there were an app for it. That site's a goldmine.
