Nevermind my post a few pages back about the App Store being my only problem: iOS6 killed my 4S battery time.
Does warranty cover broken screens on iphones? I know it doesn't on ipads [sp]because I once dropped my friends ipad and the glass literally exploded[/sp]
No phone's standard warranty covers user negligence.
Lets buy a really thin and attractive phone and seal it inside an ugly brick! How about just taking care of the thing?
Because "shocker" some people are just naturally clumsy and happen to like the iPhone! Wait why do you care? You rated it Winner like it was a good thing that he dropped it.
I'm really surprised that apple still isn't using proper glass in their products
it cost about 100bux to replace the glass on my friends iPad so I don't think it will be very expensive on a iphone
That's quite the bummer, but from what I saw from this video the iPhone 5 is actually a lot more durable than the S3, it's closest competitor:
I'm really surprised that apple still isn't using proper glass in their products
It's sourced from corning. It has nothing to do with the glass, it's the way the phone is designed.
so you admit it's shit design
so you admit it's shit design
No I never said that. Vulnerable glass=/=shit design. Do you feel the need to try and twist what people say to fit what you want to hear? Your posts in this thread seem to have a trend of being very poor. You posted that ridiculous image that took very little effort to discredit, and now you're trying to pretend I've said something I didn't. What is the thought process behind these posts?

And of course the S3 was going to be damaged more in the 3rd test, the glass had already been weakened from the 2nd.
so vulnerable glass is good design, gotcha
What you said hinges on the departure from reality that is the idea that the glass being elevated to allow off screen to surface swiping negates any other good design aspects.
From what I saw of Corning's videos the glass is substantially stronger than competing smartphone glass. And normal windowpane glass like what you have in your house wouldn't cut it for any phone anyways seeing as at that scale it's pretty damn brittle. Either thick as fuck brickphone that nobody wants or phone with more than reasonable damage protection. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=wT8xI4PEU8c Fuck, why do video embedding tags keep changing on the forum. Either way thread's going off topic now, I won't be upgrading to ios 6 because apparently my ipod is obsolete now. Shame.
so vulnerable glass is good desing, gotcha
and the GS3 is still much more fragile. I've seen several drop test videos of the GS3 versus other phones (iP4, 5 and competing Android phones included) and the GS3 was the only phone literally left unusable after it was dropped. also the iPhone 5 is much easier to service because this time, the front glass is the panel that pops off and not the back [editline]23rd September 2012[/editline] witness: 5 steps to open the iphone 5: [t]http://puu.sh/182kN/9b4b725c7c2f1b983f00bc91b409f24e[/t] whereas if you break the GS3 you're mostly fucked: [t]http://puu.sh/182m9/131bf53912f952b3133a0c8b8e396707[/t] preach more about "good design" will ya
Someone who I used to work with was a bit unlucky with his new iPhone 5.
I saw that image on facebook this week a friend shared from 9Gag or some 'funny' picture FB page and it had a caption.
What you said hinges on the departure from reality that is the idea that the glass being elevated to allow off screen to surface swiping negates any other good design aspects.
you can swipe off screen to surface on a sgs3 ???
you can swipe off screen to surface on a sgs3 ???
It's more ergonomic when the glass is elevated above the bezel, and yes I think the S3 is like that as well.
So 2 bad designs mean that there can't be any good
they're 2 out of the 3 top of the line devices available at this exact moment I doubt the Lumia 920 is much better either so unless you want one of those super indestructible, shitty Casio android phones, stop pretending that the iPhone is the most fragile phone in existence it probably seems that way because people report broken iphones more frequently
it probably seems that way because people report broken iphones more frequently
I have seen someone wildly swing their iPhone around in their hand (literally swinging their arm around in a loop)... surprise surprise it smashed. They then complained about it being fragile. :suicide:
I've dropped my iPods countless times, on the back, corner, face down, onto tiles, wood, concrete The only time I broke the screen was by shoving a knife into the side of a bricked one
The only time I broke the screen was by shoving a knife into the side of a bricked one
Woa what why
I was stupid, it was completely bricked, I was trying to take the screen off to see if the battery had come loose or died or something The funniest part was, years later I decided to plug it in for shits and giggles It fucking turned on
I was stupid, it was completely bricked, I was trying to take the screen off to see if the battery had come loose or died or something The funniest part was, years later I decided to plug it in for shits and giggles It fucking turned on
My friend dropped his iPod in the hot tub. Twice. Twice I was able to revive it by blind fucking luck (I didn't do anything, I simply plugged it in.)
Lets buy a really thin and attractive phone and seal it inside an ugly brick! How about just taking care of the thing?
If you're too stupid to invest in protection for your phone you don't deserve to have one.
If you're too stupid to invest in protection for your phone you don't deserve to have one.
That could be argued for a lot of things. brb, Circumcision debate thread.
There's no argument really. If the iPhone was designed to have a case on it they would have made it with a case on. The case is there for extra protection. It isn't needed by everyone
I dropped my fucking 3G today at the gym. Now the lock button doesn't work. Probably gonna buy the iPhone 5 when it's avalible.
I have a case on my iPhone, but I'm not sure why. If I drop the device and it shatters, the price for new front glass is the same as the price for a case, give or take a few singles.
