time to try the other PCI-E slot
This computer only has to last a month. Gotta make it laaaaaast
time to try the other PCI-E slot
Nope. No change. Cards are fucked. I'm done with XFX and AMD. Each card has either failed within weeks or was doa.
Nope. No change. Cards are fucked. I'm done with XFX and AMD. Each card has either failed within weeks or was doa.
Guess that's why they have XFX 6870's rebated so low on Newegg.
Different cards. I have two Reference cards from when the 6870 launched, and have had them replaced a few times already. The cards are discontinued now so I'm going to call XFX in the morning and ask that if I RMA both cards if I can at least a 6970. A friend of mine had his two 5870s die not too long ago and they gave him a 6990 to replace the cards. [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline] breaking news. the dead card has been brought back to life. magical, but they're still gonna get RMAed [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline] fixed them
It's annoying how VB is the only programming class my school offers and then everyone makes fun of me for trying to use VB.

I'm starting to think it would be with your houses electricity, get a electrician to look at it.

There two just needed the thermal paste reapplied, a good dusting, and a a few fresh installs of the drivers until they started working like normal again.
Shit. I dropped my 500Rpm and my 1150Rpm while they were spinning. Now they have motor tick and the fan blades are off kilter. Damn it.
Now you're the one breaking hardware and not me. [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline] Wait. How'd you manage to do that?
It was on at the time and it fell like 3 feet on my hard floor. The centrifugal force in the fan caused it to bend somewhere in the motor. Now they tick. I don't know what I'll do with these.

Well that blows. Maybe you can turn them into expensive drink coasters. [editline]2nd March 2012[/editline] I need to get a fan controller. After moving my case out from under my desk I can actually hear how loud it is, still quieter then my 912 though somehow.
It's sensationalist shit, but there's a small nugget of truth buried in here: http://vigilantcitizen.com/latestnews/windows-8-will-have-a-kill-switch/
Welp. Guess I'm gonna RMA these cards. [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Nothing but shit luck with the 6870s, and AMD for that matter.
Makol, this isn't just bad luck. You have some kind of fault on something in your house. No matter what, you've gone through 8 cards, and you have had a PSU kill itself and your components. Check the wall sockets, whatever, because this shouldn't happen.
Just did my CCNA final exam 5 minutes ago, scored 64.1
You could trying to buy a UPS, those have surge protections etc built in.
Just did my CCNA final exam 5 minutes ago, scored 64.1
which book, i just started 6 six week ago

Sitting at a Windows Phone demo event, typing this on my ZTE. Feels weird.
If you have not seen the thread before, then the first few pages might be the weirdest here... Welcome! Why do the "good" IT guys come from the stupidest place possible and are as dumb as a carrot? [editline]1st March 2012[/editline] Also The Quick Questions Thread link is broken.
Thanks, although I've actually been lurking since about v7, maybe v6.
Thanks, although I've actually been lurking since about v7, maybe v6.
That's a long time. Welcome to the thread.
Almost everyone came late to the event. Just like Microsoft was late to the market, ba dum dish.

Anyone by chance know where foobar 2000 saves playlists?
I still hate my CPU fan. Atleast I enabled the alarm when CPU temp is too high. So it got the 80C and started slightly beeping. 80C while browsing web / youtube with the stock Intel cooler (The thin piece of shit) with no fan running. Whoa. Max I have got was 100C while playing GMod. With no fan running.
