Well my camera can't focus very well so I can't get any pictures. I did plenty more scrubbing, and now you have to scrub the heatsink pretty hard to get any black on the q-tip. It looks as if it's merely stained now, and it seems impossible to get every single molecule of thermal paste off. I cleaned the CPU as well, and now it appears there is just a faint circle on top of it, and I cannot get any black off of it. Am I ready for some new thermal paste now?

Just a quick update on what's going on with my computer.
1)My computer is going into hibernation mode, when it shuts off it it actually shuts off.
2)I just realised that my idle temps are way too high, I'm ordering some thermal paste soon though.

3)Something else is controlling my fans other then speedfan. I have every fan at 100% and its capping my fans at 4300rpm when they can go to 7000rpm.

Wow. Rubbed my q-tip on a piece of heatsink without thermal paste and got the same black shit on it after rubbing very hard (lol).

Therefore I have been rubbing raw metal with a q-tip for no reason for at least 2-3 hours.

Also, it turns out that the "crack" on the pci-e slot was on the other motherboard as well, which means I did not crack the slot.

I'm gonna go ahead and apply paste now, after watching a tutorial. Anyone have any tips?

It's no arctic silver, though it's a lot better than nothing. When I got it, there was some liquid in it that seemed to be separating from the paste. I sucked some air into it and let it sit for a few weeks and it seems a lot better.

MX4 is a good one to go with. AS5 is really thick and takes hundreds of hours to set if I recall correctly.
