That guy contradicted himself at least twice.
"Have fun on MW3" is pretty much an oxymoron if it's anything like MW2. I barely had fun playing the damn game, was mostly doing it to get all the unlockables. [editline]24th March 2012[/editline] Well I suppose it could be fun if you played with a bunch of friends on a LAN or something

[editline]24th March 2012[/editline] Well I suppose it could be fun if you played with a bunch of friends on a LAN or something
I have the game on both PC and Xbox (with the map pack). The PC version is complete garbage, but to be honest the Xbox version isn't half bad. Not sure why that is.. [editline]23rd March 2012[/editline] The game is only fun with friends in the Spec Ops mode anyway, the rest is pretty dull.
"Have fun on MW3" is pretty much an oxymoron if it's anything like MW2.
But it IS MW2‽
The game is only fun with friends in the Spec Ops mode anyway, the rest is pretty dull.
There's just something thoroughly fun in yelling obscenities at the top of your voice when the person who just killed you three times in a row can actually hear you.
My favorite moment in MW3 was playing Spec Ops with a friend on some Africa mission. The enemy sent attacks dogs about half way though the mission, next thing I know my friends is screaming on her mic about the dogs being hyenas. I immediately thought of the hyenas from Lion King and felt like a terrible person for killing them. It took us about five tries before giving up, we haven't played Specs Ops since then. Too traumatizing.
I'm having an argument with someone who believes that FXAA in Skyrim reduces texture quality. He won't listen. When I said that AA does not at all fuck with how textures are drawn, he does not listen. When I post a source from a study that tries to debunk this myth, he does not listen.

It does, in fact, affect textures provided those textures meet the criteria of the FXAA shader. So it's most likely to affect textures that are being stretched (either because they're too low-res, or because the camera is extremely close to them, or even just because they're very aliased-looking). Now, having not played Skyrim yet (grrrrrr...), I can't say whether FXAA affects it poorly or not. But I do know it can most definitely affect textures, and it can most definitely do so negatively.
I just killed Makol. I HAVE AVENGED ALL YOUR HARDWARE, SIPWICKET.

Both in each set have 2x MSAA. I took each picture with Dxtory to avoid Steam compression. (It's just that F12 is the hotkey to disable my ENB injector.) As always, seeing the game in motion will probably do more than screenshots will. Personally with my 100+ hour experience with the game, I prefer to have FXAA on. (Especially considering how poorly optimized the MSAA is in Skyrim.) [editline]23rd March 2012[/editline] I see how the FXAA causes a bit of blur but it's not what the dude was thinking. As explained in the source I posted before, "...in reality, the texture is exactly the same."

Do some close-range comparisons for fairness. And Skyrim's textures seem good enough that FXAA probably *doesn't* do anything to them, even then. But it's because of the textures (and possibly Skyrim's particular FXAA implementation), not because FXAA doesn't affect textures.
What I like about SMAA and FXAA is that it softens the image. I'm one of those people who doesn't like a sharp as fuck image, which is why source still looks meh to me. Everything is sharp is tits. FXAA on skyrim AA's shader aliasing and smooths textures, which I like.

Same settings as before. [editline]23rd March 2012[/editline] Please note that the following mods are visible: Dynavision DOF Realistic Water and Terrain (The water textures in the final picture are not the game's vanilla textures.) I apologize about the second picture in the series, it is a poor comparison. [t]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7333627/pics/SkyrimFXAA/fc.png[/t] 2xMSAA, FXAA off.
