and other OS's don't have similar features?
OSX Can do this out of the box with windows
It's for focusing on the task at hand. IE: Anti-ADHD. A great feature when using photoshop, for instance.
It's called fullscreen
Give me one reason why I wouldn't?
Lol, it would render a second screen pretty useless.

For that contest, do something like this. but with BF3 instead.
10:14 PM - [redacted]: some guy changed my iphones language to arabic today and i spent a good hour trying to figure out which menu option changed language
Freaking out over the fact that the last page was useless to me. M86 has youtube blocked. :saddowns: I don't want to have to do this, but I'm putting this here for later. I forgot my flash drive... How well do you think xorg will run on an 800mhz CPU?
there's a good reason it's not included in Windows by default.
I could use that for so many things.
there's a good reason it's not included in Windows by default. it's a poor design choice when productivity is an issue. at any given time I have focus on anywhere between 3-6 windows
If Microsoft has their way, Windows 9 will be entirely Metro, have fun with your two programs at once user experience!
Been making cameras with these guys all day, fun as heck. Had a few games of UT2K4, they're suprisingly very good at it :v: I'm going to test the cameras now, then they will be shipped out soon enough

Aero didn't make you type with your butt either.
Metro is a design "philosophy", not some new way to interact with computers. Aero didn't make you type with your butt either.
Aero is entirely aesthetic. Metro is not, at least not in their current bastardized implementation of it.

hooray my BF3 key from intkeys has already been used i wonder if someone had the brilliant idea to test if the key has been used before they sent it to me (because if they did then the key would be used and stuff)
Aero is entirely aesthetic. Metro is not, at least not in their current bastardized implementation of it.
I think it is. And what about "Aero peek" and such? That's named after Aero, even though it doesn't really have anything to do with the design itself. Metro is on WP7, the 360 and now Windows 8, and they all function in different ways. I'd argue that it purely aestetic, if anything. Look at Visual Studio 2013 (or whatever); Metro design, same functionality.

It's not Metro at all, Metro at least has colour (And nice ones, at that.)

Metro's good. For tablets. Trying to merge a touchscreen-friendly UI with a mouse as input provides less than desirable results.

I hate to say it, but Apple are doing it properly, taking hints and things they have learned from their mobile UI and implementing bits and pieces of it into their desktop OS where it makes sense, and where it enhances function and form.
Metro's good. For tablets. As is, the only way it will currently work well is if they move Metro to a touch-screen only idea, or have it work similar to a Rainmeter setup and have it sitting on top of the normal desktop. Otherwise a computer is completely unusable if it has Windows 8 on it, imo.
38,459,000 IPv4 addresses left on RIPE. (Europe) 53,000,000 on LACNIC. (Latin America) 118,000,000 on ARIN (US, Canada, some Caribbean and North Atlantic islands)) 59,100,000 on AfriNIC (Africa) 18,774,000 on APNIC (Asia Pacific) And they keep on going down. I should start rewriting that "IPv6 is necessary, when will you have it working" email I'm planning on sending to my ISP.

Microsoft and Apple are both doing it wrong, it's just Microsoft is doing it worse. It feels like Apple are trying to restrict OS X down to iOS levels, sure things like desktop groups are nice, but things like Gatekeeper; trying to restrict online application installs to the App store is certainly not the way to go.

You can slide around, zoom in and out, pop out various charm menus. When in reality all you need to be able to do is scroll a list and click what you want, that's it.
Overheard a conversation about Max Payne 3 at school. They said it's a game like GTA but you're a cop in the 70's who ask criminals questions and decide if they're saying the truth or lying. How they got L.A. Noire and Max Payne 3 mixed up and thought 1946 = 1970's is beyond me. [editline]asdf[/editline] Just a moment of idiocy I felt like sharing.

Metro is fucking sex for installs with a small collection of applications installed on it. I've been using Windows Server 8 and I fucking love it, Metro is goddamn perfect for the management side. I absolutely hate it for the desktop, but once you get used to it on Server, it's just so much faster.
What about the other examples? And the point of the new VS is to follow the "Metro" style.
It barely does follow Metro, though. It's literally just a new colour (and features, of course) on to 2010. Oh and your other examples are all fine and dandy. I'm not really fussed on those.

My point is that Microsoft in their attempt to stay fresh and up to date have just vomited all of a pre existing mobile optimized UI onto the desktop and labelled it as innovation. Now Apple are meticulously picking and choosing what is worth transferring over. I mis-worded my previous statement, they aren't doing it "properly" but better I suppose.
