Nvidia don't have advantage of bulk manufacturing like they do with the GT(X/S) 500 series, so it's more expensive to make in the end, if they did manufacture in more bulk they would bring the price down but if they don't sell then Nvidia loses too much. Oh and just general corporate inflation.
