Someone should post this in the news forum, see how much people fall for it.
He should do it, the entire apple subforum will commit suicide.
I'd speedtest my 3G but windows phone has no apps
"I'd search the marketplace, but I have no motivation" I found an app for when I wanted to check it a couple of months back after just one search. Stop making the platform worse than it is.
I did search, and all the apps seemed to be shitty or cost money The app selection for WP is still laughable compared to its competitors
Yeah, it is. But that doesn't mean that you can't find whatever it is you need, and there's no reason to be such an ass about it. Besides, you bought it knowing that the marketplace is pretty limited, so why start complaining about it?
First of all, I was making a joke Second of all I don't even care about apps but just because I didn't buy something for it's other features doesn't mean I can't complain about features that are lacking WP7 is far from perfect and I'm sorry if you don't like hearing firsthand accounts of why someone doesn't like the platform, if you can't stand someone who doesn't like a phone platform even though they bought it then get over yourself

I just get tired of people throwing out flaws in a single sentence (like "Android lags, or whatever might be an equivalent), and I didn't take it as a joke, since you seem to complain about everything all the time anyway. I have no problem listening to critique, but calling your post a "firsthand account" is somewhat laughable. Throw in some well thought out critique, and I'll be glad to actually discuss it.
Well then Windows Phone 7 is terrible because >You're forced to use Microsoft services for a lot of everything. Bing search is useless and ads show up before real results, SkyDrive has awful quality which is inexcusable for a wifi upload. >Customization is just terrible. Metro was nice at first but changing the colors and switching between light and dark can only breathe so much life into a flat, boring, boxy screen. >Reliant on social networking for a good amount of features - this is only a con because when I inevitably grow out of Facebook, I won't get pictures of people on my People live tile anymore. >You're forced to use Zune. Sure, it's not iTunes, but it's also not much better than iTunes in anything but overall performance. >Capacitative buttons. They're decent, but it's far too easy to hit a button accidentally. >3G performance is noticeably worse compared to an iPhone, Android phone or my sister's Palm Pre 2. Could be hardware, but you can't attribute everything to hardware. >Performance isn't really much better than the competitors - my phone is still jittery, closes out of apps and sometimes apps don't close all the way which kills battery life like no other. It's all down to preference, really, there are no objective benefits of using Windows Phone unless you work at a place that uses solely Microsoft tech. Even in that regard Android supports most of what WP7 supports without forcing you to use anything specific to Microsoft. [editline]11th April 2012[/editline] Oh, I really hate the emoticons too :[ is a fucking bat. Why?
:[ has always been a bat in MSN Messenger, that's why. I guess. Also Bing is terrible.
Its an overrated platform. What it does well other platforms fall behind, but Metro needs a serious overhaul and you should have the option to opt out of Bing services.

[editline]11th April 2012[/editline] Oh, I really hate the emoticons too :[ is a fucking bat. Why?
Yeah, you are forced to use Microsoft services for some stuff. Zune, Bing, the Marketplace is some of the stuff I can remember on top of my head. Is there more I'm missing? Anyhow - Zune is fairly nice to work with (at least it's a lot better than iTunes), but yes, it is cumbersome at times. I've found that Bing generally finds what I want, and I don't care much for the small text ad. It's nothing that has bothered me, personally. The Marketplace is a bit barren, but I don't fancy games and such much anyway, and any advanced stuff I do, I generally do it on my computer (I guess that's not what all people does). Skydrive uploads the picture in a much smaller resolution, but it hasn't been a problem for me, as I generally just want to use the picture in a document, or simply because I want to synchronize documents with my laptop (which runs Windows 8 with the Skydrive app). If I want to move pictures in full resolution onto my computer, I'll just sync it. The fact that it relies on social networking isn't really a problem in my opinion, as you can add a picture if you want to anyway. On the contrary, I find that the integration with facebook and whatnot is quite good. Customization is pretty bad, but I don't care much for it. I find it appealing to the eye (I guess there's a slight chance of that happening, but I'm more bored with iOS than WP7 or Android for that matter), and I don't see why I would add whatever. Its design is different, and I don't really know what I would add or change anyway. I understand that you might be more creative in that aspect, though. Most people won't customize their phone much either way, and as such, I don't see the general urgency of it. It's annoying that your ringtone has to be an exact time and format, but there's an app for that, and mostly I have it on vibration only anyway. Capacative buttons is hardware related, and it's not like most Android devices do it that way anyway. 3G problems could be software related, but personally I haven't experienced slow performance. Slow performance is something I agree halfway on. I've never had lag or that alike, but the browsing experience is not on par with some other platforms. Still better than many Android devices in the price range of the device I've got, and generally it's more fluid and whatnot compared to both iOS (also on the 4S) and Android. I agree with that it all comes down to preference, it always does. I find that there are benefits, but also places where it doesn't excel as much. The keyboard is nice, and much of the integration and just general feel is in my experience superior to Android. If you want to fiddle with your phone and have fun with that, Android is the way to go, but with many consumers, I'd argue that WP7 would be more fitting. Most people can't figure out how to remove awful skins like Sense and Motoblur, and those are pretty annoying in my opinion. Android 4.0 is pretty sexy, though. I personally don't have a problem with the emoticons.
They've focused on features with the browser and not performance. HTML5 support is cool but holy shit its slow. Pandora works well on browser if you give it plenty of time. Its still pretty solid, I just wish really you could set a background in Metros home screen, custom colors. The keyboard and fluidness alone make it great. [editline]11th April 2012[/editline] Also in case you can't tell, I'm posting from my phone. I'm hoping Apollo or whatever makes it even better.Microsoft always incrementally improves.

You have to pay for the shit, but you can. Even though you get more features than that, it's still pretty shitty. At least Microsoft isn't working actively against people jailbreaking the shit.
Well I've looked into my phone and there's like no Verizon model "jailbreak". In the end unless Verizon gets better phones I'm off the platform.
Well I've looked into my phone and there's like no Verizon model "jailbreak". In Denmark, there's like 8-10 to choose from, and while I don't know what you pay in the US, I can get 11GB, 11 hours talk time and unlimited texting for ~35$ a month. Don't know how it compares to the US, but compare with the household income, and I'm pretty darn sure that it's cheaper.
At this point, I'm actually considering buying a Nokia Lumia 900 or the Galaxy Note or the next iPhone. Those are currently the only 3 options for me, honestly.

The Lumia 900 is dirt cheap though (free till the 21th of April on AT&T?).
I was thinking about looking at WP7 with my next phone, but I've already decided I will hate it because of the complete freedom I have to fiddle with EVERYTHING on my Nexus S.
Had to capture a quick clip of myself but I don't have a tripod. Nadgers. What do you do then? You stack a bunch of DS games and blu-rays like a retard of course! [t] http://filesmelt.com/dl/stack1.jpg[/t] I'm so proud of myself!
I was thinking about looking at WP7 with my next phone, but I've already decided I will hate it because of the complete freedom I have to fiddle with EVERYTHING on my Nexus S.
One of the reasons I chose WP7 over Android is pretty much because for the money I've got, I wouldn't be getting much of an Android phone, and then because I don't really feel the need to fiddle with a phone. I'm more of a hardware guy, and that has, at least as far as I'm aware, not really been a point in any phone yet.
I want one of these now.

I looked at Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T as well and they are about the same. Just 450 minutes. No texting, no data. Its not cheap here at all. Since we don't have options, they know they can get away with these prices. Its either go without a cell phone, or bend over.

We pay around $120 without data plan for 4 lines of service, so it's about $60 for 2GB, 800 shared minutes and unlimited messaging for one line. Alone it's at least $80/mo. [editline]11th April 2012[/editline] On Verizon $40 or 450 minutes, $20 for unlimited messaging, $30 for 2GB of data. That's $90 for one fucking line. [editline]11th April 2012[/editline] I guess if I was getting my own plan I'd do something like this http://www.straighttalk.com/ Decent service for decent price

They pay $200 a month for 4 smartphone lines with unlimited everything on Verizon. Granted, that's still not cheap, but that would be a hefty $400+ bill otherwise.
My sister and I are the only ones with smartphones and we reimburse our parents for the data plan. But 2GB of data for $30 is textbook extortion.
My sister and I are the only ones with smartphones and we reimburse our parents for the data plan. But 2GB of data for $30 is textbook extortion.
I know what you mean. That's ridiculous. To think that 2 years ago, you could get truly unlimited data for the same price. To be fair, streaming services weren't as big back then so not nearly as many people went over 2 GB, but still, you guys are getting ripped. I've already used 5 GB and I've only had the phone for 3 weeks.
I'm not real big on data use so I'm not really actively doing anything, but compared to what everyone else gets, it's just terrible.
Got out early from school, and decided not to go to work voluntarily. My schedule is that I only go to work in the morning, so fuck it I'm not going in the evening. So now I'm at home in the late afternoon. it's cool out. I'm listening to Tunguska ambient, and ordering some food from Chili's to enjoy my evening without anything due.
I love Chilis.
