so it's like a laptop except you need to plug it in to use it and it's debatably classier alright
Well a few days ago me and my friend were talking about spending money on cases, and that it's almost never worth it. I concluded the only time I would spend more than $50-60 on a case is if it was to build a portable computer for LAN parties or something. I then decided it would be much more interesting to, instead of buying a case with a handle, have a briefcase for classy LANgaming. Been fairly simple so far, of course, I lack any SATA cables longer than about four inches, and even if I did, HDDs are so expensive right now that they're not worth it.
so it's like a laptop except you need to plug it in to use it and it's debatably classier alright
And more powerful.
And more powerful.
Yeah, there's this, too. Another problem is that I only have one smaller-size case, so I have to go with a microATX motherboard, and still everything is pretty tight. Should fit, though. Will give updates throughout. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] Harvested a power switch and a couple of USB ports from an old HP case from like 2006.

I wish I had one so I could pull it out in ICT (my teacher thought a mouse had a virus) with a monitor on the inside. Just to see the look on everyones face.... Shame I don't have the money nor do I take the class due to teacher stupidity.
I just have a lot of old parts lying around. Anyone have any ideas on the best way to secure a hard drive mounting bay to the inside of a briefcase? Or any way, really? Screws won't work, they'll bust out the other side. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] This is just some of the shit I'm tearing apart and reworking, along with the basic idea behind it.
Double Sided tape.
Use standoffs like this: Instead of using foam tape, use something stronger such as hot glue or epoxy
For long-term storage, and in any amount of heat, it would fall apart. I was thinking maybe attach some kind of hunk of metal to the inside of the case and just creating my own mounting holes on it.

Installed Crunchbang on a 2002 HP laptop today. Flash really makes it panic.
Also I need a tiny linux distro. Gonna boot onto a flash drive to test everything. Isn't there an almost naked ubuntu out there, or what?
Installed Crunchbang on a 2002 HP laptop today. Flash really makes it panic.
Flash runs like shit on anything. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline]
Flash runs like shit on anything. [editline]4th March 2012[/editline] Puppy Linux
That's what it was called! Thanks. Alright, now the only thing I need is a video card, and damned if I can't get this bastard up and running.
Flash runs like shit on anything.
That is true. HTML5 wasn't much better though. :v: Also, if anyone's curious, here's Crysis running on a laptop with the same graphics chip, with the help of SwiftShader: HYPERSPEEEEEED
Dat framerate.
-snip posting while tired-

what is swift shader? like an emulation system?
what is swift shader? like an emulation system?
rendering software
To be fair, I'm also probably better off not using a motherboard that's got a questionable amount of life left, a power supply that cost $20 years ago, or a heatsink that was shit in 2006. But I'm trying to do it with what I've got, it makes it more fun when I don't spend money.
It probably is not too good of an idea to cram a full desktop computer in a tight closed space. That thing can overheat easily.
Obviously it would only run open. Just a fun LAN idea.

Can't understand a word that man says. Doesn't look quite that funny anyhow.
"yeygegeyeye gegeyyegeygyegey es mae by hofhod by cawl od ooty cohgygeygegyegye" That is all I heard.
I really hope YT does something about it. Everyone hates it. What I don't get is how they manage to get partnership. So many amazing channels get nothing.
I have a 50$ giftcard to spend on a game. I was thinking Anno 2070, but there have been many games that I have said I "wanted" and I can't really remember any. So, i'm just asking for some suggestions.

That was a very long 20 minutes.
