I don't know what to fucking buy.
I have $27 to burn. wat do
It's internet money! i should burn the internet
I'm considering actually going with the Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 6. Not sure if I need the Plus model which comes with a dual core CPU. But apparently it blows away the drobo in performance, and has tunneling options and can transcode video for media devices on the network.
The ReadyNAS line of products in general are just great because netgear give you the tools to do what you like with the firmware. Even an addon to enable SSH and install APT on the home-office ReadyNAS duo box.
The Ultra 4 plus is 584, the Ultra 6 plus is like 850. Two extra drive slots. Would be... cooler to have more drives... Between this: http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ReadyNAS-Diskless-Attached-RNDP600U/dp/B004AM61YI/ref=pd_cp_e_2 And this: http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ReadyNAS-Diskless-Attached-RNDP400U/dp/B004AM61Y8/ref=sr_1_14?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1334816744&sr=1-14 [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] I would put in a 2TB, a 640, a 500gb. Probably. Since I use one of my 2TB's on the shelf for backup. So I guess 4 slots would be fine. [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] Then again, a lot of the unused drives from work could go into it...
It's internet money! i should burn the internet
buy cheap cigarettes online and sell them to minors for slightly less than full price! it's profitable maybe :o
Linus likes drobo.
Linus thinks gold plated connectors are useful.
Linus thinks gold plated connectors are useful.
Well. Scientificly speaking, they are. In practice, not so much.
Linus thinks gold plated connectors are useful.
Linus isn't someone to trust on commercial products like that. [editline]19th April 2012[/editline]
Well. Scientificly speaking, they are. In practice, not so much.
No.
What does Elric think?
The science behind it works. But as I said. It makes no real life diffrence.
The science behind it works. But as I said. It makes no real life diffrence.
Right now what you're spouting is absolutely pointless. Why are you talking?
Well. Scientificly speaking, they are. In practice, not so much.
Gold doesn't corrode, atleast not as fast as anything else. But people don't use a gold plated USB connector mouse for 500 years for it to be useful. Linus seems to think gold connectors are better because they bend and mold to the port and make a better fit. He's a fucking idiot. The plating is like 10 atoms thick and the connector shouldn't move, it's the spring loaded pins in the connector. That's how it's designed. Gold has a purpose for connectors, but they aren't useful over regular steel connectors unless you plan on computing next to the beach with salty air all over.
Gold plated connectors are useful if you're selling them
