My CPU, RAM and motherboard need upgrading at some point. I built an i5 2500k, 8 GB RAM, GTX 680 machine for a friend today. Another friend is putting together a similar build, though is waiting for Ivy Bridge to come out.
Meanwhile, I have a Core 2 Quad Q8400, 4 GB of RAM and some POS Gigabyte motherboard that can't even do eSATA properly. At least my GTX 560 is fairly new and handles my games nicely on my new monitor.

I'm in the same situation as you.
Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.4, 4GB DDR2 667 (Both were labelled as 800, too. Fucking unlabeled Chinese shit) and some Asus board with the worst layout known to man.

Probably designed for OEM systems that have PSU on the bottom and have a simple front over wiring job.

I have a mobo with the same layout, the P5Q SE PLUS. I know that feel, it really ruins any appearance of good cable management too with this big wire stretched across the motherboard. Luckily I wont have it for much longer, just hoping Ivy Bridge starts selling on the 23rd and that it's not just an announcement day.

Because of my bad cable management due to shit case and shit motherboard, the fan cable from my CPU cooler will get caught in the fan on said cooler, about every month.
