Because it's their movie.
They worked with Toei Animation to get it made, it's their child they just had other people do the parts they cannot.

How dense are you flakky
I personally can't stand iOS because I can't afford to buy a new phone every year if I want the OS to run at top speed with the latest features. There are 2 year old android phones that still run ICS flawlessly with the full featureset, whereas the my iPhone 3GS runs iOS 5.1 rather crappily (there's a significant performance hit compared to 4.x and especially 3.x) and is missing quite a few features for no real reason. (Siri, panoramic photos, wireless hotspot)
Also, waiting for jailbreaks is annoying.

What provider? I'll trade you.
What the hell are you talking about? There aren't any Android phones that run the OS flawlessly, not in terms of performance at least. My Galaxy S II i9100M with a 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 dual core and 1GB of RAM isn't even as smooth or responsive as my 1GHz single core Cortex-A8 Samsung Focus with 512MB of ram.

I just didn't see it in that way at first then I looked at it again after Shroom pointed that out.
That's another issue I have with Android. Most of these "flagship" devices... well... they're basically shit compared to the non-flagship ones. Why would you release a phone, call it the best on the market right now, and then have IT'S LITTLE SISTER run smoother.
Also I'm looking at refurbed 2TB drives, and holy shit they are expensive. Even shitty WD greens. Like 150 for a refurb 2tb? You srs

Well the big issue with lower specced devices somehow running slower has a lot to due with the OEM UI in a lot of instances. For example, transitional animations in the UI look a lot smoother on the HTC Desire HD than its dual core brother the Sensation simply because Sense 3.0 was a lot more resource intensive. I know Motorola is supposedly a big offender with that but I don't own any of their devices so that's just what I've heard.

That''s crazy. I bought one of these the other day because I was really running low on space. $170 for a 3TB is pretty good, regardless of what people say about Seagate drive quality.

My brain can't even comprehend the use of a 2tb Harddrive. Then again. My 700gb is half full.
Also is it sad that a year later I only just now hear that 4kids filed for bankruptcy?
I hated 4kids with a passion.

funny, everytime I've used and Android phone with an AOSP based ROM installed it ran flawlessly, smooth as silk... I guess that's the problem, for most of these phones you need to flash it to get rid of the crapware, or else it runs like balls due to Sense or TouchWiz or whatever Motorola has.
If I went Android I'd only get official Google branded shit. Because I know that it is at least up to Googles quality requirements. Like the Galaxy Nexus; I'd take that thing in a heartbeat! Same with the tablet that Google is rumored to be releasing this year. Although, it's looking like it MIGHT be a Chrome OS tablet...

I work at Bell up here in Canadia. Not even the Galaxy Nexus is "smooth as silk". The response time is noticeably larger than iOS or WP7 based devices and transitions in the UI still need work. Half the time when you swipe to the widget section of the app drawer it has to reload all the icons because they don't stay cached and makes it stutter. That's just poor design, plain and simple. I know iOS has similar issues with the spotlight search and the settings menu, but it only happens once after boot, not over and over.
I might add that Google decided to fragment their device updates as well and Samsung does the firmware updates here. That probably doesn't help performance judging by their track record of firmware quality.
I've decided to build a ZFS server still but to forget about odd sized harddrives. Then building a Z3 RAIDZ zpool from tons of 2TB drives, cheap ones hence the Z3.
Then putting it in like a 16 drive server case and placing it somewhere in the house. Going to be a nice summer project.

Smoother than my (current) iPhone, anyway. I'm sure if I had a 4S or something, I'm sure it'd be nice and smooth all the time. But as it is with my current 3GS I often have to wait like 10 seconds for Safari to open, for example, and the homescreen often stutters when scrolling back and forth.
Or maybe its just me, I don't know.
Plus it gets even worse if I'm listening to music at the same time, it takes several seconds for the lockscreen to dissapear after unlocking. Oh, and its not currently jailbroken, by the way. Vanilla iOS 5.1.
Am I alone in thinking that the best part of the Tron: Legacy soundtrack was this song?

Because I fucking love this song.

Well it's like with any group of devices, over time the old ones get phased out. Apple just does it faster. They want to be able to keep the hardware and software both equally as great. Yeah it forces you to upgrade, but you're almost done with the 3GS contract I'm assuming. Their logic is if the two year old devices start to get slow, the owners will buy the "next" one at the end of their two year.

I've heard mixed opinions on iOS 5 performance on devices like the 3GS and the iPod Touch. When my friend Tariq uses his 3GS it looks very smooth to me. But on the other hand there are people who talk about issues like you just described. I honestly have no idea not being an iPhone user myself, but iOS 5.0.1 seems to run well on my brother's iPod Touch 4th Gen and on Tariq's 3GS. There's probably something more to it like some sort of setting that is hammering performance.

I loved when that song came on in Flynn's arcade. Definitely a great part of the movie.

I don't know. I might just buy an Android/WP7 phone without a data plan (HAH) and a QWERTY keyboard if I can, or get one second hand... Only things I use my phone for anymore are texting, checking my email, and listening to music. I play angry birds once in a blue moon, and web browsing is something I can live without.

Like I said, if the iPhone doesn't meet your needs, or surpasses them, there's no reason to keep it. Go with Android or WP7. They're both equally good in their own way.
Also, most carriers REQUIRE you to have a data plan on a smartphone, so good luck with that.

Require? You know I always complain about Canadia having 3 year contracts but we don't have anything like that. Does that apply if you buy a phone no term in the US too?

Hence why I said the 'second hand' thing, but I doubt I could easily find a subsidized smartphone for less than an arm and a leg.
Maybe I'll just buy the most basic phone I can get, and just bring a netbook with me everywhere. v:v:v

If you're on AT&T or T-Mobile you could look into getting a used HTC Desire Z/T-Mobile G2. It's not cutting edge spec wise or anything but it doesn't sound like you really care for playing 3D games or anything. I know you can get them used for $100-150 here so I can't imagine it being very expensive in the US.

That second option might be cheaper. Hell, get a chromebook even! I was thinking about it. There are some cheap ones on ebay. I'd just bring it with me everywhere, I could use it at Tim Horton's/Starbucks, Panera, etc while I'm out and about doing shit.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Or go even cheaper and buy a Kindle Touch 3G..free 3G plan and an actually fairly decent web browser.
though a chromebook might be a better idea, I could use Skype on it!
shit, there's a lot of possibilities..

No, you'd go for more expensive.
Give me 10 minutes and I'll have something.
