Cheap both?
I have to ask, do you guys think combining an Asus motherboard with an AMD processor and Nvidia GPU is ok? I found a 6 core AMD Processor for $180 (http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=61038&sku=A79-1091) and an Asus motherboard for $150. (http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=670049&sku=A455-3058) I also plan to get a nvidia graphics card in the future. Those parts seem perfect for my price range, but I'm not sure about combining all of them. I've had to mixs views of people saying it causes problems... and sometimes it not.

It wont cause problems. Go to a microcenter shop, they should have cheap i5 2500k what simply destroy the 1090T.
It wont cause problems. Go to a microcenter shop, they should have cheap i5 2500k what simply destroy the 1090T.
I'll have to search for one, not sure if any are by me. Anywho, thanks for the info dudes. Now I can at least feel safe buying these parts.
Oh how wrong he will find himself to be. I hate it when people in the year above, below or equal to me claim they know more about Technology than me (yes, this is a very bold statement). I have seriously never found anybody in this age bracket which know's more than me. People try to be and end up looking like an idiot. [This kid didn't believe I owned a domain so he whipped his iPod out and attempted to whois my domain while his ipod was not in sight by me or my friend and claimed that I dont own it. We forced our gaze upon his ipod only to find that he wasn't connected to a network and couldn't even get the whois info which caused us to repeatedly laugh at him and him to look like a retard.]
I always operate under the assumption that I know the least out of anyone around me. I've usually been wrong. I'm fortunate though, most people I know also assume that they don't know everything. So this sets up neat scenarios where I'm teaching a bunch of people about shit. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] I still probably know less about computers than anyone else in this subforum. Most of you are acing codeacademy with enough confidence to actually criticize it where here I am doing basic VB. I'm still relatively new to this shit. Sometimes when some of you have discussions I still get lost. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] Then I feel bad because I'm the only one who seemingly isn't a child prodigy.
I've been learning Javascript for several years, so of course i'm going to criticize basic lessons :suicide:
I don't know one bit of coding

The 1090T has 6 cores, while the 2500K has 4. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072) I'm still kind of new to all of this, I only upgraded my powersupply/Graphics card so far.

It's how much processing power you get out of a single core that matters, and the i5-2500k is lightyears ahead of the 1090T in that regard.
my uncle thinks using a cat6 cable makes his internet faster
My friend online who likes to 1+ me on hardware all the time mentioned to me one day, Him: "Hey I checked windows and it looks like I have 100mbps internet. What do you have?" Me: "I just did a speedtest. About 12 down and 2 up. What is your upload speed?" Him: "I guess 100mbps. I don't see an upload number." Me: "You also don't see a download number. Bye." This was like 3 years ago. He has a 920 i7 at 4ghz, 12gb ram, and an Asus 590 which he's RMA'd like 20 fucking times. Sometimes he's nice to talk to, other times he just tells me how bad his computer is.

I think I can still afford the i5... thanks for the warnings guys!
Does anybody know if the Raspberry PI supports SDXC? (I know it supports SD)
I don't think so.

You will notice that the 1090T gets pissed on by the 2500K.
Pepper;35109419']I don't think so.
I was hoping it would, then I could use it as a 128GB Media centre.
Get a NAS and stream stuff from there
Drobo Thoughts
buy 8
A little pricy but if you use it for what it's intended for, go for it
also get in mumble. [editline]12th March 2012[/editline] MERGE
Does anybody know if the Raspberry PI supports SDXC? (I know it supports SD)
It supports SDHC. A better solution would be to setup a PC with a UPnP and setup the Pi to stream from it. I have no idea how you would go about setting it up, though I've heard that you can set a supported format on the UPnP client and have the server stream in that format if the source file doesn't match the codec. This basically means that you could have the Raspberry Pi playback say, an Xvid file from your server and have it decoded on the Pi's GPU. Considering the GUI of XBMC makes the CPU in the Pi run at 100%, software video decoding is something to avoid.
Pepper ive added you on skype. My mother turned her nose up at BT Infinity claiming £26/m is "too expensive" for 10x the speed we get now. There was a certain line of retarded that I thought only special people could pass, it seems It has just been passed.
belongs in the "Shit that makes you mad" thread as quality OP content. :v:
Where the hell are the 680 reviews damn it.
I was hoping it would, then I could use it as a 128GB Media centre.
I'm loving all the buttcomplex solutions everyone is giving out here. You could plug in an SDXC reader, or just an external hard drive.
Ok, why the fuck, every time I come round here, even if my dad has just switch it off, just refuses to turn on. I have to take the cable out and take it out & put it back in. I think it might be the VGA one as that's the one BIOS comes up on and the other one doesn't come on till Windows is loaded, and I get a overclocking failed error and I'm not seeing it. Thoughts?
