when fermi was coming out
Who's fermi? Hot name. Too bad she's lesbian.
KSP is very CPU intensive, it makes a lot of terrain and atmospheric calculations.
It is not a data rate problem. I have it installed on my SSD.
It isn't that bad, my Q6600 plays it at at least 120FPS(what I've limited it to) with about 20-30% load. I have quite a lot of mods as well.

Of course, if my netbook gets 30 fps, it's not that bad.
I have no idea what CPU he has. But it must be pretty bad if an Atom beats it.

It is definitely a lot better than it was pre .13

Enrico Fermi (29 September 1901 – 28 November 1954)[1] was an Italian-born, naturalized American physicist particularly known for his work on the development of the first nuclear reactor, Chicago Pile-1, and for his contributions to the development of quantum theory, nuclear and particle physics, and statistical mechanics. He was awarded the 1938 Nobel Prize in Physics for his work on induced radioactivity.

How are the temps? Looks cramped.
Why didn't you keep the Pentium D in it? You would have a very good footwarmer or you could cook eggs on it.
SSD question:
How big should I go?
I'm planning on getting a new laptop, which has an open hard drive slot. I plan to get an SSD to put in there for putting the OS, pagefile, hiberfile and applications on.
I'd think even a 30GB drive would be more than sufficient for that, but a 60GB sounds more future-proof. But I've gotten recommendations to get a 120GB model (admittedly, by the guy selling the hardware).
Thing is, even 120GB wouldn't fit my SteamApps folder, and I'm pretty sure you can't pick-and-choose Steam games to be installed to a different drive (at least, not easily). So it's too small for installing games to, but overkill for just OS+apps.
So what's the general recommendation, here? At what point does buying more SSD space become "not worth it"?
You can do symbolic links (at least that's what I think it's called, can't really remember) with non-valve steam games, and put your other games on a different HDD. I'm doing that right now. Kinda assy to work with, though I doubt it'd be a problem to you.

It is actually pretty cool because it uses a push/pull with just a small VRM heatsink in the way
[editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
Looking with HWmonitor the e6600 is at ~40c idle and ~62c load

A little hot for idle.
Oh and this is while it's in the case.

But for a machine smaller than a PS3 slim it's pretty good, no?
Well, I'm really enjoying Mass Effect 3, I've decided I'm uninstalling it just before the ending, I don't want it spoiled.

Is this a good idea? :s
I do need a lot of storage but before spending so much money I think asking for a second opinion isn't such a bad idea.

I didn't buy it either.
Considering I payed for ME1 on PC & Xbox and ME2 on just PC, I think they have quite enough of my money considering what they have done to the franchise.
a bit quiet on the mumble server
Man, the laptop I wanted seems to have disappeared from Newegg. There's a similar model (4GB more RAM, but a 250GB smaller hard drive and no Blu-Ray drive), but it's not *quite* what I wanted.
My piece of shit pci network card works again. Better than the usb one, but still shit
I was riding in the bus and heard to kids discussing alienware and macs
I wanted to kill them
