But why should I get a 360 controller instead of Chillstream or more RAM?
I missed this post,
The Logitech Chillstream uses the same driver as the xbox controller, so it's compatible with the same games.
if that's the case then I'd say go ahead and get the Chillstream. [editline]10:43AM[/editline] And 2GB of RAM is plenty for Windows 7.
And 2GB of RAM is plenty for Windows 7.
Are you sure? Because for instance Blender and TF2 take 95% of memory.
Are you sure? Because for instance Blender and TF2 take 95% of memory.
Well it's plenty for Windows 7 itself, if you use programs that eat memory then you should consider getting another 2GB.
something I do when using a 360 controller (I did this on TF2 when I broke my shoulder and couldnt type for a few weeks) was use xpadder, which is actually great in case a game isn't compatible w/ controller like Killing Floor or TF2 http://www.xpadder.com/ checkidout
Well it's plenty for Windows 7 itself, if you use programs that eat memory then you should consider getting another 2GB.
All right. But because my motherboard supports up to 16GB (4x4 1066MHz), maybe it would be even more reasonable to buy 4GB?
A whole lot of new games natively support the 360 controller, and work very well with it. For example, in GTAIV, the button prompts change instantly from the keyboard buttons to the xbox buttons, rather than changing to generic 'JOY1, JOY2, JOYX+' prompts. It's genuinely a pleasure to use.
Is this the only advantage of 360 controller over Chillstream?
All right. But because my motherboard supports up to 16GB (4x4 1066MHz), maybe it would be even more reasonable to buy 4GB?
Probably not worth the money, if you're getting by with 2GB then 6GB would most likely be a waste.
I assume you do have a 64bit OS too right? otherwise its not worth it at all.
Probably not worth the money, if you're getting by with 2GB then 6GB would most likely be a waste.
So 4GB will be enough for a longer time? [editline]07:19PM[/editline]
I assume you do have a 64bit OS too right? otherwise its not worth it at all.
I do.
Yes, then I will drop it accidentally, and not use it anymore. [editline]06:06PM[/editline] It's expensive as hell; I also prefer something wired.
You can get wired 360 controllers. They're a lot cheaper too - but unfortunately annoyingly difficult to find. It took me a few weeks to track one down, but it was definitely worth it. But if you look online... http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Controller/dp/B000B6MLTQ Bam. Even cheaper than that Logitech one. If you ask me, native support is more than enough reason to get one over other gamepads. And for everything else there's always Xpadder.
So 4GB will be enough for a longer time?
Yeah 4GB seems to be the standard nowadays, it should last you for quite a while.
If you play skating games it is

[editline]09:49PM[/editline] But wait, I found it in my local computer store. But I still need ~$17 to buy it, which is a pretty big amount for me.
no Every FPS game ever made is better on Mouse and Keyboard. Every one.
I don't know, I liked Fallout 3 with a controller. Other than that, I can't think of any exceptions.
I personally like the Logitech ones, they have good deadzone and come back to center very well.
So buying a gamepad will be generally better choice that more RAM?
The only significant difference you're going to see if you get more RAM is that your computer will multi-task better. If you multi-task a lot then more RAM might be a better idea - especially if you generally use resource-heavy applications like rendering software and the like.
I don't use rendering software, I'm using it only because we have to use it in school. And one of the last (hopefully) questions: are there any racing games which aren't fitting for the gamepad?
