Awesome except for the fact that the all glass firefox plugin broke glasser :S
All Glass Firefox replaces Glasser, basically..
All Glass Firefox replaces Glasser, basically..
I just found that out. Thanks though.
i meant that the top tabs concept looks better than the original concept and if you think otherwise, well your opinion is wrong and you should not be allowed to post. ~peace~
I think tabs up top looks stupid. Tabs on bottom looks a lot better. My opinion is law.
I think tabs up top looks stupid. Tabs on bottom looks a lot better. My opinion is law.
You like wasted space.
You like wasted space.
I don't really give a shit about half a pixel of wasted space out of 1080, no. It's not even a waste.
I don't really give a shit about half a pixel of wasted space out of 1080, no. It's not even a waste.
How do you manage half a pixel?
You like wasted space.
I'm not very concerned about a few pixels of space on my monitors. Even with my netbook it's still great.
How do you manage half a pixel?
He's obviously depreciating the amount of pixels because it's really not a big deal. Plus, if you really want to be a pixel whore, they should take the firfox logo, minimize, maximize, and close buttons and make them on the same level as the tabs. Then you would get a few more precious pixels. It's really not a big deal either way. I just like the styling of tabs on bottom better.
I don't really give a shit about half a pixel of wasted space out of 1080, no. It's not even a waste.
Well, everyone doesn't have a 1080 px high screen, I have a 13" macbook and need all the vertical space I can get. That's why I'm using safari at the moment instead of firefox. Tabs on top saves about 30-40 px and that's pretty much.
Well, everyone doesn't have a 1080 px high screen, I have a 13" macbook.
You're not really part of the biggest sample of people Firefox developers care about, anyway. I'm just saying that a lot of people aren't going to give a crap about 30 pixels if it means their interface looks like ass. You're going to get those pixels back with the removed menu bar, anyway.

The blank space looks stupid, even if it is just a few pixels. Also, is it even possible to make the minimize, maximize, close, and firefox logo on the same level as the tabs in a tabs up top config?
It's a good bit smaller with tabs on top in the mock up. And both are way thinner than the current UI. Granted the new UIs take out the bookmark bar, which most will put back in...
How are they wasting space? They got rid of the title bar, which is 16-24 less pixels. Then the menu bar is gone in both, that's another 12-16 pixels. That's almost cutting it in half at the top, compared to the current UI.
horizontal not vertical starting with that stupid icon
horizontal not vertical starting with that stupid icon
I don't quite understand what you are talking about. How is there any horizontal wasted space? vertical space is the one that's more limited, because the browser uses a vertical layout. Anything you take out of the bar is just going to make the address bar and all that bigger because they are just big to fill the would-be empty space.

I think it unifies the design more, removes a couple of buttons and makes more space for an additional toolbar (like bookmarks bar)
After looking back over this I've changed my mind and am starting to like tabs up top. I still think that it COULD be smaller. Also, you can remove the bookmarks toolbar really easily. I have mine removed.
to the question about who cares about a tiny amout of wasted space: i care if the wasted space makes it look horrible. '30 pixels' (more like hundreds) can make a huge difference
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/4.0_Windows_Theme_Mockups Firefox 4.0 pics oh shit
way to read the thread

You save a tonne of space, which may even be enough for use to use Fx again.
http://www.askvg.com/download-mozilla-firefox-3-7-mockup-theme-now/
using this. even though i don't use firefox. step in the right direction, now all it needs is tabs up top.
Am i the only genius in this thread thinking "just let the user decide. Make it an option for tabs on top, or tabs on bottom." Only issue with that could be the themes not working correctly. But hell. [editline]10:11AM[/editline]
Use Fx with "Hide Menubar" "Hide Statusbar" Addons, then, set to small icons and remove the bookmarks toolbar. It could be made even smaller by taking out the massive waste that is the top title section and just making the nav bar up there. Wouldn't it be nice to just modularize the entire application gui?
i thought that but then i realised whoever wants the tabs down the bottom is wrong and doesn't get anything
If you like it better and you can afford the space then I don't see the problem here.
Do you still have the option for custom skins? I like my black themes
Do you still have the option for custom skins? I like my black themes
ew. seriously?
Do you still have the option for custom skins? I like my black themes
I'm fairly sure that a lot of themes won't work. And the ones that do will not look right. But I'm also sure that they will have themes out the moment an RC or something for this is released to the public.

Otherwise they could probably just update progressively without messing with beta testing.
