What are you doing wrong?

You are saying 192MB of RAM is acceptable for what, 2 tabs?

what, is that preloader or whatever?

yes
I like it, all these people who are afraid of having to get accustomed to a new layout are stupid.
I like it, all these people who are afraid of having to get accustomed to a new layout are stupid.
they should at least put an option for it.
Panda, I'm on your side mostly.
I think it is common though for firefox to climb to around 90,000k by itself. I run only 2 addons, Adblock Plus and GreaseMonkey (with only 1 script to remove ratings).
And even before I used GreaseMonkey, I still reached 90,000k. I think we can all agree that firefox can improve on their memory usage quite a bit.
what, is that preloader or whatever?
[editline]06:14PM[/editline]
yes
Don't even know what preloader is. That's Firefox with 1 tab open for me.

There is and always has been. It's called: Mozilla Firefox Addons.

yea, well they better start working on it.
anyways, the preloader puts a lot of the memory onto the cpu instead or something.

Well as you can see CPU Usage for Firefox and my whole system was 0%
Well as you can see CPU Usage for Firefox and my whole system was 0%
yea i just noticed.
so how did you get it that low?
I have 0 Addons, on a fresh Xp install and it's hovering around 90,000K of ram and 0% cpu.
You have to take into account that it's storing a quite a bit of stuff in memory though. All the images on a page, the html, any javascript on the page and all of it's stuff, and that's just the stuff on the layman's level of thinking. Then you have the stuff like all the buttons and gdi objects that get drawn, the objects in the website that it has to draw(as in the visual layout).
I bet if you turned javascript off, and turned off stylesheets you'd use a lot less ram. But what's the point in having ram if you don't use it.
Hey lets all post FF memory usage without any context. Look, one tab open and 65MB of memory used *gasp*

And for the record (not that it should make much difference apart from add ons) I installed Firefox just for that screenshot.
IEXPLORE GET THAT SHIT OUT OF HERE :argh:
Why's explorer open twice?
Oh I see. Each explorer window is its own process by default now.

Not from what I can see. I still have that option unchecked, and anyway, I have 4 folder views open, not 2.
It looks like the sex :v:
i think explorer does one for the superbar/desktop and one for the folder view.
For me it opens each window in a new process. And it's unticked.

idk then. for me, it does what i posted above.
I only hope that TAB MIX PLUS will work with it
I only hope that TAB MIX PLUS will work with it
it doesn't even work with 3.5 yet.
i think

Why can't there be a thread without some sort of a war going on?
Chrome users, if you want to promote your browser, either do it in another thread or at least promote it by showing to us how mature its community is and how talented it can be at shutting the fuck up when they're supposed to.
Thank you.
Looks NIIICE

this.
or trying to help other users fix it. isn't the point of open-source that you can find a version that you like?
someone had to have the idea of fixing the tabs.
I read a little bit more into discussions and saw some of the memory-related screenshots.
But here's a wild theory: perhaps Firefox's memory usage depends on total installed physical memory?
Just throwing that out there.

but then Panda X's computer has like 512MB RAM or less
Looks like Opera.
