If UI will be forced, this will suck. I want file menu to be toggleable.
well apparently not because all the browser designers agree with me and they are DESIGNERS what do you know!!
Too bad the designers aren't the ones using the browser as a majority, huh?
If half the users want the bar back, somebody will put it back.
If UI will be forced, this will suck. I want file menu to be toggleable.
I'm sure you'll just be able to press alt and have it temporarily come up, like IE8 and Vista Explorer..
If UI will be forced, this will suck. I want file menu to be toggleable.
Go try Hide Menubar for a day/week then tell me it's not better.
Press ALT and voila, the menubar is back, alive and kicking. Without it we get more screenspace.

I have a 901 and this is exactly why I stopped using Firefox on it. I shouldn't have to set up a RAM disk to get a web browser to run nicely. Granted, it's more the fault of the hardware on my Eee, and not so much Firefox, but it still happens with Firefox and not Chrome, so I'll use Chrome on it.
If UI will be forced, this will suck. I want file menu to be toggleable.
The UI has never been forced. And just like every other browser I'm sure the Alt key will toggle it.

they still haven't merged the stop and reload buttons, FUCK
somebody send these designers an angry email because that would be yet another extension I could discard
The UI has never been forced. And just like every other browser I'm sure the Alt key will toggle it.
Really? I don't see the old UI from Firefox pre-3.0 in my themes list. For most people, that means forced since they don't know how to install addons.

If they don't know the features of Firefox then perhaps Firefox isn't for them.

People use Firefox without Addons? :aaaaa:
If they don't know the features of Firefox then perhaps Firefox isn't for them.
Don't act as if people knew the features of IE either. Most users just enter addresses, click things and maybe open tabs.

Hardware problem. People should do research before they buy hardware. I've got some kind of Dell Mini and it's :krad2:. Except Ubuntu hates my wireless network so I just use XP at home.
Looks like Google Chrome to me ;/
Looks like Google Chrome to me ;/
Exactly.
You'd better be able to turn on the file edit tools etc buttons.
Also do I have to download 3.5 myself or something I haven't got a patch (for 3.0) in ages.
Yeah, the Aero looks alot like Glasser... maybe we can ditch Glasser, unless the new Glasser will make it look better.

Should have auto-updated. But if not: http://www.Getfirefox.com
Ctrl + L
Ctrl + B
The good thing about the menu bar is that you don't have to remember any shortcuts, and you can (or should be able to) find everything that program has to offer. If all else fails, if you can't find it anywhere else, the menu's right there.

Barely any, which is a good thing to be honest.
Suddenly this thread changed from "lol wut new desing srsly look fucking cool" to "lets post how much firefox.exe uses my computer and battle about browsers"
Barely any, which is a good thing to be honest.
No it's bad because I don't want fucking chrome in my Firefox. If i want to use chrome, I use chrome. I only use chrome on the rare occasion because I can click a button and put on my blue and red tinted epilepsy 3d glasses and have shit pop out a micrometer.

The tool and page icons are new, aren't they? And they've changed more than just the colour.
well i havent used chrome in a while, so i'm downloading it to check what options it was missing
ok, here we go,
1: missing an option to decide whether to delete cookies at the end of a browsing session, or to never delete, etc.
Incognito Mode (ctrl + shift + n)
thats not what i mean. i mean, like these options: delete at end of session, delete when they expire, etc.

2: no addons ( i know its not an option, but i consider it a feature, which most browsers do not have)
I think they're working on it
working on it is too far away
3: no option to tell chrome how to open certain files (example: i set firefox to automatically download RAR files, but to tell me when its downloading jpg's, and to open mp3's in WMP)
It opens the files using Windows' default. Change that.
i cant tell windows to automatically download certain type of file, just what they open with.
4: chrome tries to add a startup program without telling me.
Example? I don't think mine has.
its called google update
5: didnt see a "master password" option (tell me if i'm wrong)
Yeah, ok.
Yep.
6: no autoscrolling or smoothscrolling options, that i saw.
Middle mouse button and move the cursor.
thats not an option to turn it on or off by default. its just the button to activate it
7: didnt see a "clear private data" option or button
Tool, clear browsing data. You didn't exactly look very hard.
oh, i missed that
responded.

the only difference is the tool and page buttons are switched and firefox has seperate refresh/close button
Designs can have flaws, and being a designer doesn't automatically mean you can make the perfect UI. Also designs are greatly opinionated. Firefox looks fine on my netbook. I don't know what you're talking about.
I personally love the toolbar and I don't really like it moved. It feels like something is missing.
yea, just look at apple. proves my point exactly.
looks great, but is useless.
Why won't they just call this Firefox 4.0?
And stop complaining,
1. you don't have to download this
2. an addon will probably come and bring the bar back
3. the menu button is much more convenient, imo.
how do i disable automatic FF updating?
not the addons, just the program?

I think 3.7 is mostly an UI update, not many new features. I think it's to early for 4.0 also, and i think mozilla is going to some really innovative stuff for it.
FF 4.0 concept:

if i wanted chrome, i would get chrome.
but i do think the home button should be next to the tabs.
God, good job guys, you are getting me to rage.
1. Funfact, Google made Chrome to be copied from. They want to push kick ass javascript, and multiprocess browsing into all browsers because IT MAKES THEM RICHER. They could give two shits if people use Chrome or not, all they want is for Mozilla, Microsoft et al to copy away so they can pump out more intense javascript apps. Not anti-google or anything, but it's what they are doing. They entered the market only to stir the pot because no browser was really trying anything new anymore.
2. How do you know that 2.7 is ONLY going to be a UI change? Posting screen shots of it is about as useless as people posting screenshots of the next version of ubuntu. Sure, it might look different, but there's so much shit behind the scenes that might be different.

you mean 3.7
and you're right, they might remove options like chrome did.
