We've had it since the 90's. Get used to change. Even if it's years late.
This is just like the Classic Start Menu in Win7. I loved the old Start Menu, then they change it to the annoying one in Vista. Some people like the change, others don't. I personally am hoping that they'll let you keep the Menu bar, because I've used it for way too long for them to go "Ohai, we r gona take ur bar nao kthxbai. Futuristic lookz ftw."
you mean 3.7 and you're right, they might remove options like chrome did.
Oooo call me out on a typo, therefore everything I said is dumb, and refutable. You probably don't realize, options = bloat. This is the entire firefox even exists. Firefox was supposed to be the super stripped down version of mozilla because people were complaining about too many options and features they never used. Every time you add an option, you add a bunch of bloat code for each way to do things, and therefore the size of the program increases. This is why firefox has plugins. The entire program is pretty much opened to plugins, so if you don't like something, you'll have a way to change it. If enough people hate the new way, there will be a plugin that skins it/reconfigures it to look the old way. edit: Also, menu bars need to die a painful death. They are an eyesore. Oh hey, let's put a huge text based list at the top of the window instead of figuring out a way to implementing these features in a meaningful/eye pleasing way. This is why microsoft is going to the ribbon, why chrome made the menu's on buttons(not perfect but it's a step in the right direction), and hopefully firefox is getting rid of them.
Why won't they just call this Firefox 4.0?
I'm pretty sure it's still called Firefox.next (with the initial number guess being 3.6) until they figure out the exact version number. Does anybody have a source for that number?

THATS GUNNA MAKE IT SLOWER THAN IE. WOW WE SHOULD JUST REMOVE THE OPTIONS PAGE ALL TOGETHER! no. i really don't think more stuff on the options page adds that much to the resource usage compared to other browsers. its mostly just the addons. also:
people were complaining about too many options and features they never used.
i use the options they have on there. at least, many of them.
God, good job guys, you are getting me to rage. 1. Funfact, Google made Chrome to be copied from. They want to push kick ass javascript, and multiprocess browsing into all browsers because IT MAKES THEM RICHER. They could give two shits if people use Chrome or not, all they want is for Mozilla, Microsoft et al to copy away so they can pump out more intense javascript apps. Not anti-google or anything, but it's what they are doing. They entered the market only to stir the pot because no browser was really trying anything new anymore. 2. How do you know that 2.7 is ONLY going to be a UI change? Posting screen shots of it is about as useless as people posting screenshots of the next version of ubuntu. Sure, it might look different, but there's so much shit behind the scenes that might be different.
You need to chill, this is just a discussion, nothing to freaking rage over. As 3.5 was almost feature/speed update only I thing mozilla is going to work on the UI more than anything else on the coming releases. I never said it's ONLY going to be a UI update, but it's absolutely going to be the main thing.

whaaaaaa people are changing things whaaaa
whaaaaaa people are changing things whaaaa
to worse things. except the theme is nice. just the actual important stuff got worse. anyways, it sounds like some people are being fanboys (AKA people above this post)
Why are you guys bitching about the design? It's not even done yet, it's just a concept.
Why are you guys bitching about the design? It's not even done yet, it's just a concept.
because its 0.2 away.
because its 0.2 away.
lrn2version
lrn2version
it actually is 0.2 away. there may be stuff in between, but last time they went from 3.1 to 3.5 lrn2payattention

I don't get why you would want dated looking interfaces edit: v heh woops his presentation of it confused me, but still since firefox is customizable with addons the possibility of the old interface isn't going anywhere
the old start menu is there did you even attempt to look or did you look for the closest internet forum to bitch at
he said he likes how they let you change it in windows, and doesnt want firefox to be like "no you cant change it back because we're retarded"
This entire page loaded in less than a second with Google Chrome. FF sits there and thinks for a good 5 seconds before responding to any request. Also javascript and flash execute way faster. Takes up ~100 MB RAM which doesn't matter to me but may matter to you guys. Google chrome has everything I want and use at the speed of instant. Firefox has more than I need or want or even like. Addons are useless to me since all I do is business, check my email, and browse this forum. With Chrome I can do all of this instantly and easily.

Since you have such special needs then why don't you and all those other people you say like addons and make your own god damned web browser and stop complaining that the stuff other people make is shit. Also enjoy wasting countless hours every year because firefox loads pages slowly.

Why bother waisting time and valuable resources to customize something, turning it into a bloated mess just to get what you want? Which in the end is still and always will be a bloated mess? Or have a program that has all the basic needs while using little resources and does it FAST? Well I think I know what I will go with.

I tried Chrome. Everything was awesomesauce. I went to Facepunch and immediately I quit. The scrolling, the fucking scrolling. It's so damn blocky.

Alright. Point made. In fact I'll admit I have Songbird which is based off Firefox since I think they put the engine to a good use. I will most definitely use addons in a music player but I like my web browser to be basic, as if I just formated basic.

The bookmarks toolbar will still be there, right?
Ugh, they removed the file menu and the home button and call it a new version. FF is turning into IE, I'll stay with 3.5. The door's over there, don't let it hit you in the ass on your way out.
Typically when you update a program the version number changes
