Why are you guys bitching about the design? It's not even done yet, it's just a concept.
Because they don't like the concept?
I tried Chrome. Everything was awesomesauce. I went to Facepunch and immediately I quit. The scrolling, the fucking scrolling. It's so damn blocky.
um so? [editline]11:46PM[/editline] Just tried scrolling on firefox and it's just as blocky, I don't know what you're talking about.
Smooth scrolling. For example, on a laptop, when you swipe across the side of the touch pad to scroll, it continues scrolling down fast or slow depending on speed of swipe. Chrome doesn't have that.
ok i see what you mean now so? [editline]11:59PM[/editline] that's not terribly important to me. i never even scroll that way.
I already love the new FF design.
I liked it how it was
Where's my goddamn menu bar? :argh: It failed like IE7 :sigh:
Why is everyone so keen on the menu bar? It takes up needed space on widescreen monitors, and it's only one click away.

That's revolting.
For those so in love with the menu bar, what do you actually use it for? I only ever use it to get to the options window. There doesn't seem to be many features of it that can't be implemented in a better way. Also, did you ever think of the possibility that it's still there, and you just have to hit alt like in other programs that hide it?

Share the sauce/theme/whatever got you that, good sir.
thats great for you, but i like addons, and so do many other people, and if FF goes to shit, the only reason i would still use it is because of addons. or i just won't update till they get something to fix it back .
A simple UI change has you crying this bad?
This looks a lot like Chrome, But hey, If that's what people like about chrome, the viewability of it, then this will add the addon capabilities. I'm excited.

Need I say more? Also, I don't want to press alt. And I'm going to be pissed if I have to press alt every single time I want to access it or every time it opens or something like that. It had better be a tick box. And plus it looks ugly as piss running on XP and with aero.
View page source You could right click the page and do that Reset zoom I don't know why you'd need to zoom but whatever they should add a zoom controller that you can tack onto the toolbar Tools dropdown I use all the time This is the only one I ever use, which could be done by just doing it the chome way with a button that pops a menu up History so I can easily open up old tabs and easily open the "show all history" window which doesn't come up with control + h A valid reason that can be fixed by having a history page like chrome Easily fixing messed up toolbar stuff I don't even get this one Easily accessing my addons. Addons should be already easily accessible since that's the whole point of them, to make stuff easier Need I say more? Also, I don't want to press alt. I think with this new UI, they are trying to clean their room so to speak. You might lose the menu bar, but they might actually put the stuff you use in a better place.

And what I meant by messed up toolbars was that I could manipulate my toolbars by opening a dropdown tab and checking/unchecking. All of the addons are under tools, and I like them there. I don't right click to view page source. I just don't like doing that. I guess it could go under weird pc habits. A zoom controller tacked on would be stupid. As for what you said about page history, firefox already has it. It's just not control + h. I wish it was. My point still stands that it looks like shit on XP and with aero. But at least themes are there to fix that. I'll probably adjust to no toolbars, but there isn't really a good reason to move shit around so much.
View page source Right click menu Reset zoom Ctrl + 0 Tools dropdown I use all the time For what now? :S History so I can easily open up old tabs and easily open the "show all history" window which doesn't come up with control + h Ctrl + Shift + H Easily fixing messed up toolbar stuff Rightclick the toolbar Easily accessing my addons. Everyone, I do believe a modified "menu bar" Is under the tools menu, like when you click it you get: file edit view history etc...
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox/4.0_Windows_Theme_Mockups I'm liking the tabs on top option. It makes more sense from a usability standpoint, to put them on the top. That way an inexperienced user will know that everything in that tab, will only affect that tab. And it makes the entire window just feel cleaner.
I guess I'll need two more addons...

On the wiki page some guy edited it to have his concept made from his tablet, but someone edited it out. I really liked it.
tabs up top option is so much better
Share the sauce/theme/whatever got you that, good sir.
http://www.askvg.com/download-mozilla-firefox-3-7-mockup-theme-now/
Answers in bold :)
Don't defeat every single point I made you bastard. Now I can't bash the removal of it :saddowns: Still, concepts look horrible IMO. [editline]01:34AM[/editline]
tabs up top option is so much better
No it's not. Also, 4.0 looks much better.
wish they wouldn't waste so much horiz space on the tabs-on-top option
wish they wouldn't waste so much horiz space on the tabs-on-top option
How are they wasting space? They got rid of the title bar, which is 16-24 less pixels. Then the menu bar is gone in both, that's another 12-16 pixels. That's almost cutting it in half at the top, compared to the current UI.
http://www.askvg.com/download-mozilla-firefox-3-7-mockup-theme-now/
Thank you!
