GDDR5X (1080 / 1080ti) isn't great for mining which is why 1070s were going for the same price as 1080s initially. I have no idea what the fuck caused this jump given it's not a global one like the mining related one was.
The US also has some of the cheapest electricity costs for Western nations so that might be why we're getting hit so hard.
It should still show you the desktop even without any drivers.
Try this:
1. Download the latest drivers from Nvidia's website
(http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/129081/en-us)
2. Download Display Driver Uninstaller and extract it
(http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,9.html)
3. Boot into safe mode and run DDU, choose "Clean and restart" (also make sure that it's targetting the Nvidia drivers rather than the Intel ones)
4. Install the drivers you downloaded earlier
Return with results, if it still refuses to work you may be unfortunate enough to have gotten a DOA graphics card
It bootloops after installing the driver and restarting, then goes into Automatic Repair mode. I'm using the integrated graphics right now for the record. I'm also using a really old HDD that my dad had lying around for reasons that would take too long to explain, it hadn't been turned on for about 7 years and has 160gb of space. Not sure if that would be a problem. I'm gonna go back to my 1tb one later but I was doing all this now on the 160gb one just in case something goes wrong and to test the card to make sure it was good (seems like a no in this case)
Edit: Weirdly enough, it /slightly/ accepts drivers found through Device Manager, which seem to be outdated. From what I can see, this card won't accept the newest drivers. The issues I have so far and are telling me that the card be kaput are:
- Won't accept newest drivers, bootloops when I try to install
- Green/blue lines appear after a random amount of time when using GPU video output
- Both ports are having issues
- No difference in using the other PCI-E slot on my motherboard
- Wouldn't show any output when I hadn't put the included disk in yet
- Constantly showing error 43 and named incorrectly in dxdiag
For the record I haven't tried any games yet but do I even need to after seeing all these problems?
Heck my GPU is failing... not so fun everything is jacked skyhigh.
Looking for a completely new system. It needs to be small(mini?), Ryzen based, play modern games fairly well and most of all: quiet.
Budget is up to 1500€ without SSD or HDD I still got these.
Suggestions?
I got my PC back in 2014. I didn't really know much about specs or hardware back then, and I'm still fuzzy on it now. I need to get a new PSU because the one I have is starting to go out. I already found one that will work for me, but I'm also considering upgrading a few components as well. My specs:

What should I consider upgrading first? Do I need to upgrade everything or do I need to mainly focus on my GPU?
It's all pretty old, the processor is probably your weakest link. But when you replace that, you need to get a new board and DDR4, which is inflated and expensive. High end GPUs are equally inflated, but a 1050Ti 4GB would be a significant upgrade, and 4GB cards are old news for memecoin miners.
A Ryzen 3 1200 with a B350 board and 16GB of DDR4-2400 would run you about $400 after sales tax (if applicable). A GTX1060 6GB is $319 and a 1050Ti is $205, according to pcpartpicker.
If you don't want to fuck around with overclocking, the Ryzen 3 1300X will get you a decent boost in performance for ~$20 extra.
If your games and such run fine as-is, just replace your PSU and get an SSD. If you've never had one before, you don't know what you're missing. Night and Day difference in system responsiveness.
$40 can get you ~128GB, $75 can get you ~256GB, $140 for ~500GB and $250 for ~1TB.
What kind of B350 board and DDR4 would you recommend with a Ryzen 3 1300X?
Whichever one you like to look at and whichever one has enough SATA for you. some have 4, some have 6. Don't buy Biostar ever, and approach low end asrock or gigabyte with caution.
Normal RAM (this is a 3000mhz kit, but it probably won't go above 2400 or 2667)
Fast RAM (the Trident Zs should hit their rated speeds no problem)
The price difference on the RAM is $15 right now, and the reasons why some kits don't do well on ryzen is long and boring. These are the cheapest kits I could find on the site.

stock cooling is fine if you don't OC, best inexpensive coolers are the Hyper 212 Evo or Cryorig H7
If you get the Hyper 212 make sure you get a case wide enough (its 159.2mm tall)

What's a good GPU that's not being fucked over by Crypto? I've been looking at the 1060, I assume it's probably not as touched as much as the 1070s or 1080s but it's out of stock everywhere.

1060 has just enough vram to mine, 1050ti is the highest nvidia card before pricing gets real fucked due to it only having 4GB.
So fucking glad I bought all my parts during boxing week. I paid around $369 for my 1060 6gb, now prices are shooting up everywhere
I mean like yeah it came DOA (I've still gotta send it in for repair) but I've got it before everyone scalped them to mine their memecoins

whats wrong with biostar
my last 2 mobos have been biostar and i have never had a problem, not saying you are wrong i just want to know if i have been making some horrible mistake for the past like 6 years
yeh my last mobo was a biostar that i bought in like 2012 and i sold it to a friend and i'm pretty sure it's still working today

at least i think it is since she hasn't yelled at me

All of them are even looked at replacing my 780 but its price is sky high.
but a 1050Ti 4GB would be a significant upgrade, and 4GB cards are old news for memecoin miners.
Even so their prices have been inflated as well, the cheapest 1050Ti is currently 200USD when they used to be around 150
The RX 570 is slightly faster than the 1050Ti, the 580 is slightly faster than the 1060.
They were/are popular choices among miners, though, so their prices have skyrocketed
So I'm thinking of getting a Radeon RX 560 instead of something like a 480 or a 570. Would it still be a significant upgrade from what I have now?
What kind of R7 GPU is it that you've got exactly? They range from the 240 to the 270X, and there's a pretty massive difference between them
Get GPU-Z
Based on those numbers I'd guess you have a 250. A 560 4gb would still be a significant upgrade.
[editline]18th January 2018[/editline]
For sure now that I think about it with Oland and those specs
I have a I5 6600K I currently have a 970 and when taxes come in I'm planning on getting a 1080TI is it worth going high or getting the 1070TI. For when I get a 1440P 144hz sometime this year
Yup it's a https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/159003/159003 for sure

Im going to recommend this prebuilt to a friend

I know, i know, *prebuilts are the devil* but he does not need to be tinkering inside a pc. Plus, part picking this pc out, actually comes out at the same price so eh. Look good?
I'm buying a new case since my old one doesn't quite fit my new GTX 1070 TI properly (I've had to have my case sit open since I got it) and I've found this one which fits the size requirements and Corsair seems to be a pretty good manufacturer from what I've read:
http://www.skytech.lt/cc9011075ww-korpusas-corsair-carbide-series-100r-midtower-case-p-229169.html
Anything wrong with it that I might have missed or something?

I'd tell him to get this if he's prebuilding. https://computers.woot.com/offers/hp-omen-870-intel-i5-2tb-gtx1060-gaming-desktop-14?ref=w_cnt_lnd_cat_pc_2_3
Better GPU, better CPU, more RAM. Just no SSD, but those are cheap. Just snag a 60-120GB for another 40 bucks.

Yeah the cost is definitely saved in having a complete no name board and PSU VS known quality albeit low end ones.
[editline]21st January 2018[/editline]
The GPU in the Amazon one also looks like to be an MSI midrange one VS the likely Nvidia oem one in the HP

Although yours looks really good. So, in your opinion what would you choose?
Also, is Woot a good website? Never heard of it before.
Nevermind, it's totally not worth upgrading now 1070ti's are the same price as 1080ti's. I'll just wait
