Aios were my gateway drug to full custom loop cooling. Next pc just going to be full noctua. This is too much work. Also if you can hear coil whine i would rma.
have y'all got any CPU cooler suggestions for a Ryzen 5 1600x ? I just found out it doesn't come with one, so I'm gonna need to get it
Dark Rock 4 is pretty good.
seems a bit out of my budget - trying to allocate 35-40€ at most to it
I'll always be a stan for the Hyper 212 from Cooler Master. Definitely the best bang for your buck. Just make sure it will fit in your case.
I think it's also gonna need a mounting bracket for the AM4 socket, right?
Basically this, if you want a little more kick, the dual fan versions are also really good: Hyper 212 LED Turbo
Just use screws why are cooler makers so dumb reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Building a FreeBSD router machine in a 2u rack case. Is the Pentium G4400/4560/4600 still the go-to for midrange performance? Or would Ryzen be better (considering the limited space inside the case)
Hyper 212 Evo's time has passed, the Cryorig H7 is much better for the same price
You've gotta install a custom backplate though. With 212 you just latch it in place and no worries.
Clearly you haven't had to deal with boards that glue their backplate to the board.
Review I'm looking at shows the H7 beating the 212 LED by ~10C, which is certainly significant. Anyway, yeah, I think just about all non-AsRock boards glued their backplates, there were a shitton of complaints when X370 came out on the AMD subreddit about it.
The 212 LED is NOT a 212 Evo, it's a cheaper version of it all around. Do not pay more than $20 for the LED, it already comes with spare fan brackets. That Cryorig looks far, far better constructed that the cheap piece of crap that is the 212 LED that sliced up my fingers during an install. I'll have to keep that heatsink in mind since I've mostly stopped recommending people the 212 since there's so many coolers out there which are much better made for another $5-20 and come with higher quality fans. BeQuiet also makes some really great entry level stuff around the same price point. If you're just looking for cheap and works for AMD. AMD has a wide selection of stock coolers and all of them are interchangeable. Just remember that you need the stock latch style backplate. Amazon also has these if you're in the US for a hair cheaper and that's an option for you. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-SILENT-Wraith-features-cooler-FM2-FM1-AM3-AM2-Copper-HeatSink-up-to-125w/323086322322 https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-WRAITH-SILENT-COOLER-w-LED-light-FM2-FM1-AM3-AM2-AM2-Up-to-125W-CPU-NEW/223053805643
I bought the 212 LED for my last build because I didn't know what I was doing and highly regret it. Don't care for the cheap looking aluminum being exposed at the top ruining my dark aesthetic, and the single colour LED (red, can't be turned off) ruins any potential lighting themes I could make without any red in it. Gonna wait for the H7 to go on sale. It would also match my Fractal Design chassis fans better, I got the white/black ones.
Depending on the sort of loads you're expecting, Ryzen 3 can be appreciably more responsive, especially with a modest overclock
Yeah a Ryzen 3 wouldn't be a bad buy, should support ECC memory. Gets a bit tricky with the Pentiums now because anything post Skylake doesn't support ECC.
Didn't even think about ECC, that alone should basically seal the deal. Unless you're working with someone else's money though, never buy ECC new. Source known good from closeouts or local upgrades if you can, it's not even that uncommon to find kits of 32GB ECC for a fraction of MSRP just because a business needs to offload old hardware.
I pretty much exclusively buy ECC RAM off ebay used, it's very hard to lose in that situation. Even for some of my particularly cheap clients running old servers.

I think it's probably worth it to save up some extra money. This build can scrape by but it won't age gracefully at all, ESPECIALLY without an SSD.
I'll ask him if he really needs a PC now or if he can wait a bit and save some bucks The PC he had is pretty old and really bad
If your friend is in Chile too, I'm not sure how bad pricing is or if I can even use PCPartPicker for Chilean retailers but I'm sure we'll help as much as we can. There are things I'd change with the original parts list while keeping it in the same price range (I assume)
Over here we use a site called SoloTodo which is almost similar to PCPartPicker
My only concerns with Ryzen are I heard (on this thread) that there are no good MicroATX boards, and I thought Ryzen ran pretty hot. Will the default heatsink work in a 2u case?
I can't really translate it so I'm not able to use it very efficiently but I'm trying anyway. What's the current approximate budget (in CLP, I assume?)?
the one with ryzen apus is the tiny one, the Wraith Stealth, should fit
after going and doing my own research on this, I can't help but agree, good microATX AM4 boards don't exist. The Wraith Stealth is really low-profile but if you need something even lower (and better) the Cryorig C7 is an excellent low-profile downdraft cooler, for much less money than many others.
Im trying to get and answer from my bud but for the meantime try and keep the build below $450.000 CLP
your SSD prices seem pretty rough. I'd replace the HDD with this, it has 1/4 the capacity but I truthfully cannot recommend anybody buy a mechanical hard drive in 2018, Windows 10 just *hates* running off of one. The rest is sort of okay. I'd swap out the motherboard and case for full ATX since Ryzen mATX boards have reliability and VRM issues, but I don't think that's absolutely necessary, and reading this much Spanish is giving me uncomfortable flashbacks to high school
