I've been trying to figure out why I couldn't see my notifications in this thread for a day or two now. ONWARD TO 28!
Ayyy, it's fixed!
I am the hero Facepunch deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Anyways back to building discussion! Picked up a h100i v2 today and it dropped my temperatures at idle by 10 degrees and my gaming temperatures completely. I was looking at doing Noctua fans on my old smaller radiator from Asetek but the ones I decided on were about half the cost of just buying a H100i Definitely worth the investment in my mind.
What CPU? I'm hitting ~55c when I'm full bore compiling or otherwise hammering my CPU. i7-6850K @ 4.1 GHz
From what I understand, these older intels just run really hot. My case is also shit compared to others as far as radiators go (Phanteks P400). Considering ordering one with better airflow
Okay so I've kinda put up a list together of the parts I want to upgrade. ( Current PSU is a few months old and also I'm keeping the current SSD, HDD and the case ofc) CPU: i7 8700K MOBO: Z370-A GPU: RX 580 ROG STRIX RAM: Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000 what do you guys think?
An 8700k and a 580 combined together is a bit underwhelming TBH. The 580 sits on par with the 1060. It's a great card but if you're going for an i7 you might as well go all out on the GPU as well.
thing is i have a freesync monitor so I kinda wanna stick with the gpu. would 8600k be an overkill still?
I wouldn't buy a Vega right now, Navi should be coming Q4 2018 or Q1 2019.
current cpu is i5 2500k, has its age i'm thinking 8600k, 16gb DDR4-2666, gpu and mobo same as before z370a, rx 580 strix
Freesync is nice, but it’s solving a problem that can honestly also be solved with brute force. I’d consider waiting for Nvidia’s new line of GPUs instead of buying a 2 years old card at above launch price.
Acer XF240H bmjdpr 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) AMD FreeSync Display (Display Port, DVI & HDMI Port, 144Hz Refresh Rate)
I was finally able to upgrade from my 3 gb 960. My 1070ti is arriving tomorrow.
Ohh boy. The thread should just be nuked tbh
I'm long outta the loop, what exactly is going on with the pages?

Deleted posts or nuked users (who get all of their posts deleted) desynchronizes the post-page count. Had those deleted posts remained, we would've been on page 28 but they don't exist anymore so we're on 27. The system still thinks we have those deleted posts so it makes a "ghost" page 28. Anyways, to contribute: I've never owned a gaming PC (or a desktop in general, all I've ever had is laptops). Been thinking about building one this summer. However, my desk has a shelf above it permanently attached to the wall giving me about 16-17 inches of vertical height to work with. Anyone recommend a good case that'll fit under it? I don't care about RGB or window panels, just needs to have good ventilation. I was looking at the Cooler Master N200 but it's like a half inch too tall. I'd rather not get one of those ugly square box cases either. Any suggestions?
I found a 21:9 1080p 144hz ultrawide monitor for cheap during prime day and was wondering how bad is it to play games on ultrawides still.
RIP page 28 again.
We should really just get the thread locked and make a new one.
