Plus, part picking this pc out, actually comes out at the same price so eh. Look good?
Sorta kinda depends, if he's already got a prebuilt PC from one of the larger OEMs chances are pretty good he'll be able to use the Windows 7/8 license to activate Windows 10, and if that's the case you can do a little bit better by assembling it yourself https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9pGGBP However, if building it yourself is completely out of the question, I also found this one: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2F86JV9276 It's only got 8GB (pretty strange considering the choice of CPU) of RAM and lacks an SSD, but that CPU+GPU combo for that price is still pretty hard to beat. It should be noted that the R7's are pretty much equal to the 1600 as far as gaming goes, though, and I've no idea if it uses a dual channel RAM configuration which Ryzen in particular really likes, nor do I know what kind of power supply is in it other than "it's rated for 460W" Another excellent gaming PC, the RX 580 runs circles around the 1050Ti: https://www.amazon.com/CYBERPOWERPC-GXIVR8020A4-Desktop-i5-7400-7200RPM/dp/B0747W15QL/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1516617747&sr=1-4&refinements=p_36%3A-90000 [editline]22nd January 2018[/editline] also what the fuck is this https://www.amazon.com/GAMING-DESKTOP-GAMEPOWER-ELITE-TURBO/dp/B00MV17UH2/ref=sr_1_478?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1516618355&sr=1-478&refinements=p_36%3A40000-90000%2Cp_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A3012495011|3012497011
Yeah the cost is definitely saved in having a complete no name board and PSU VS known quality albeit low end ones. [editline]21st January 2018[/editline] The GPU in the Amazon one also looks like to be an MSI midrange one VS the likely Nvidia oem one in the HP
I don't think that's a fair bias. You're looking at OEM parts in both sets. Just because a brand has one with a model doesn't mean they didn't just buy it and slap their own label on it. That's what a large majority of PSUs are anyways. It's a world of re-branding. The Amazon one has a GTX 1050, the HP has a GTX 1060. That's a fairly large gap. [editline]23rd January 2018[/editline]
I actually linked the wrong pc. So, in your opinion what would you choose? Also, is Woot a good website? Never heard of it before.
Woot is a reliable site, I've purchased from it several times. Nearly all the products listed are also on Amazon. Look at it as an Amazon Outlet store. So there's a few things to take into account: -The HP is refurbished, so the warranty is only 90 days and probably limited. -The Skytech is new so it has a 1-year parts and labor warranty. -Neither build has an SSD. So no matter what I recommend buying one (even if it's just 60GBs) for the Operating System to live on. The difference in speed/functionality will be significant. -The HP has a better GPU. You get more safety guarantees with the Skytech, however if you want to save a few bucks and get a little more performance, the HP will help you out. It's a new vs refurb argument.

HP has a long history of putting absolute shit in all their units.
Xbox 360 controller finally crapped out on me. Any of you guys know any good controllers for PC? The obvious one is Xbox One, but I'm curious to hear of anything I might not know about
any good cpus cooler under 60 usd $ for socket 1150
Considering a 'core' (cpu mobo ram) upgrade in the near future, current specs as follows: I didn't score well with the silicone lottery when I bought the hardware in April 2015, the processor doesn't like going past 4.2GHz and with Meltdown/Spectre affecting this generation and older harder, I've had more system hangs and app/game crashes since updates were rolled out. I'm considering a Ryzen 1600X build, cooling would be handled by my existing AIO Corsair H80i though I'm open to suggestions if this is inadequate (it's served me well so far, never had temp issues). One thing I'm considering along with the build is a complete clean install of Windows 10. I dirty upgraded from an 8.1 Pro install to W10 Home (bastards), and while I've reset the OS twice, windows is windows and I don't trust it to have cleaned itself properly. With license keys stored in the motherboard, how do I go about extracting them for use with the new board? This might not end up being necessary if I want to move to W10 Pro (which it should've given me from the start) and end up buying a new license anyway. To save on setup time, I'm probably going to image my OS drive to another using KNOPPIX, format the SSD and install cleanly. Is there anything I'm missing from this? Are there other things to consider before I drop the coins on new hardware?
any good cpus cooler under 60 usd $ for socket 1150
it's $65 but its real good https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CW-9060010-WW-Hydro-Liquid-Cooler/dp/B009VV56TY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516853491&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+h55+liquid+cooler i can't speak for this one but it's probably fine https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterLiquid-Chamber-Support/dp/B076F4LDN6/ref=pd_sbs_147_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B076F4LDN6&pd_rd_r=4G8T82B2SZM0XHCDTASX&pd_rd_w=HeHN2&pd_rd_wg=0xA6L&psc=1&refRID=4G8T82B2SZM0XHCDTASX
With license keys stored in the motherboard, how do I go about extracting them for use with the new board?
I've used ProduKey to grab keys from the BIOS. There are other options, but I haven't tried them (https://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-retrieve-windows-8-oem-product-key-from-bios). I don't know if the key would work on a new board. I couldn't use the ones I extracted because they were an odd type of key for OEM activation processes only.

As a point of reference it keeps a friend of mine's 8700K at around 50-55 degrees even when the FPU is stressed to 100% by AIDA64. However, while it's ridiculously easy to install, it's pretty big and bulky, so it's a good idea to make sure there's at least 160mm of space between your socket and the side panel [editline]25th January 2018[/editline]
it's $65 but its real good https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CW-9060010-WW-Hydro-Liquid-Cooler/dp/B009VV56TY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516853491&sr=8-1&keywords=corsair+h55+liquid+cooler i can't speak for this one but it's probably fine https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterLiquid-Chamber-Support/dp/B076F4LDN6/ref=pd_sbs_147_4?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B076F4LDN6&pd_rd_r=4G8T82B2SZM0XHCDTASX&pd_rd_w=HeHN2&pd_rd_wg=0xA6L&psc=1&refRID=4G8T82B2SZM0XHCDTASX
AIO's are generally only worth it for very compact builds
120mm AIOs are kind of a joke tbh.
really? i have a very similar one and it keeps my cpu between 20-30 most days or am i way behind and there are air coolers that perform better
Low idle temps are easy for any cooler with a decent amount of metal mass to it. Especially with Intel Speedstep and AMD CNQ, which drop clock speeds to save power and heat when not in use. Air coolers perform better until you are buying top tier (read: thicc) 240mm AIOs or larger.

What should I consider when buying a motherboard?
What should I consider when buying a motherboard?
1. CPU Socket Type + Chipset 2. Size / Form Factor 3. PCI slots (type and quantity) 4. Ram slots (type and quantity) 5. Backpanel ports (How many usb ports, what type of usb ports, display ports if needed, etc.) 6. Brand (Stick to somewhat popular brands, more obscure ones can be pretty shit) 7. Price (All of the above will factor into this) 1-4 are absolute requirements for the rest of your build 5 comes down to preference 6-7 will (theoretically) ensure you're getting something not shit
Jesus, what on earth do you need 32GB of RAM for?
I wanna shoot myself seeing a 1070 for the price of a 1080 ti from just months ago :(

What in the... Do you folks have, like, all the chrome extensions on the store installed at once? And as many startup programs as you can find for your windows install?
