Might be able to hunt around for those parts a bit more to shave some cost off.
I've been out of the PC component loop for a while, but honestly with the current RAM prices, wouldn't it be worth considering going for 8GB DDR4 instead?
I don't really got the current overview with Ryzen and the optimal DDR4 modules, though - and I guess you'd either have to go for 2x4GB (more expensive per GB and sub-optimal for upgrading) or 1x8GB (lose out on dual channel, which is probably significant what with Ryzen's memory sensibility).

Reminds me of the time I had to build 5 mid-range workstations in two days. Got them down to an hour per machine by the end, good times.
I once had to build 9 machines for a virtual golf place with GPU's and serial cards in a shitty mATX case. I only had just over an hour :v:
[editline]22nd February 2018[/editline]
The cuts lasted for a week
It would take me an hour just to unbox and categorize everything.
If I want to install 9 hdds and 2 ssds, what should I make sure of?
It would take me an hour just to unbox and categorize everything.
Luckily I was able to line all 9 up on some tables and just assembly line it.
If I want to install 9 hdds and 2 ssds, what should I make sure of?
That you have enough SATA ports (assuming they're all standard 3.5" and 2.5"), and enough SATA or Molex power connectors. Might also want to look into mounting brackets for fitting the 2.5" into 3.5" trays.
[editline]23rd February 2018[/editline]
Most motherboards have around 6 SATA ports, so you might need to get an HBA card if you need more.

That you're using RAID10 if possible
That you're using RAID10 if possible
RAID 6 is where all the hotboys hang out.
RAID 6 is where all the hotboys hang out.
I can't hear you over the sound of RAID-Z2.
You should wait zen+ is out really soon and is 10-20% faster
https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/matthew-wilson/performance-numbers-leak-out-for-amds-upcoming-ryzen-5-2600-zen-cpu/
imo even though current intel cpu's are really good value for money now AMD has a competitive lineup it's a better choice because they don't change the socket all the fucking time
Define "really soon". If it's like a month or so then I might just wait
april
That you're using RAID10 if possible
I once saw a 10-disk NAS using RAID0 :v:
The guy said he wanted absolute maximum speed...
It was connected to a 10/100 switch.
im looking at an in stock reference 1080 for £548, is it worth it? most cards base clock is higher than reference boost should i hold out for a faster card?
so I'm going to be replacing my 3570k with a 1800x, anyway I'm wanting to wipe some of my hdd's; should I format them on this pc and reinstall windows 10 here too? or wait until I have all the new parts installed.
also I saw you guys were talking about zen+, I'm pretty sure it'll still use the am4 chipset, so if you were to do a current gen ryzen 7 build I don't see it being that big of a deal, although i'd hope the second gen am4 motherboards have their problems solved

this doesn't seem like a bad deal, does it?
if anyones interested this is the 1080 i saw, i dont think im going to get it i cant find any reviews outside a couple of reddit post and the cooler is supposed to be a bit shit
april
I'm just going to wait on my upgrade then.
found some reviews for that 1080 decided to buy it, if its shit i can probably sell it for more on ebay

Inno3D is just another producer of functional junk. It'll work fine, not ideal but in this market it's a fine buy.
[editline]25th February 2018[/editline]
Just inspect it and stress test it when it gets in.

Can't be worse than Powercolor, Diamond or PNY. The company has been around a while but they aren't for sale anywhere in the USA, so I've never seen them IRL let alone used an I3D card.
I'm thinking about changing CPU's since my current one (i5-4670) is quite old and is struggling with some games like BF1, R6:S and PUBG
Is it possible to get a decent upgrade that's between 200 to 300 USD? I'm not sure if it's relevant, but my motherboard is a GA-Z87X-D3H and I'd rather not change if possible
Do you have the 4670 or 4670K?

Wait until you have all the hardware before a reinstall.
Also, the current gen ZEN CPU's are heavily discounted now, so both buying a ZEN now or buying a ZEN+ in April are both good deals.

Can't wait until it's raining cheap gen 1 Ryzens so I can buy a cheapish B350 board and make a cheap Ryzen server.
Shame DDR4 is so expensive.

just being fussy really im sure the board itself will be fine, if the cooler is shit i can fit an aftermarket one and still have paid less than any other 1080 thats available
just installed that 1080, get about 15000 in firestike but my cpu is old and im waiting for zen+ in the stress test maxes out about 63° i think thats pretty decent

Those fans are huge, god damn. Makes the GPU look tiny.
