Speccy doesn't read VRAM above 4GB right. It'll just loop around every 4GB. A 1080ti has 3GB according to speccy. I can't believe that they haven't fixed it yet.
I took a look at that, looks nice! When I upgraded my grandfathers PC from his old junk, I picked the Define R5 and it really impressed me. I checked out the new R6 and that looks sleek too. I'll pick up a FD case as soon as I got the money to drop on it.
Oh yeah, forgot about the R series lol. R6 would definitely suit your needs then, especially with that drive capacity. This is my first time using FD cases that I totally looked over the fact that the C series is just like the R series but with the drive section snipped off to save on length
Should I bother with the NZXT Phantom 410?

What type of auction do you have? If it's a straight up auction and not a best offer than it's just better to ignore them. If it's a best offer than that's up to you.
just a standard auction, i politely declined there attempt to low ball me

does anyone have a gigabyte motherboard? i have a issue where it occasionally fails to boot i think its a issue with xmp. im pretty sure its not my 1080 because its always happened and i replaced the board in the past but it still happens
i was wondering if setting up the ram manually helps? i dont want to disable xmp because its already pretty slow compared to modern systems
teach me not to buy lowest price gigabyte boards atleast, its an absolute piece of shit there isnt even the ability to change vcore so i have a 2700k but cant overclock above 4.0 new Z77 motherboards are about £200 as well
Just got my hands on a Dr Zaber sentry and my 1080 ftw doesn't fit :C
Trying to sell it on ebay and grab a reference sized 1080ti but man these prices suck, I got the card a year ago and recently got it RMA'd.
I'll trade you my RX 560 in my bedroom PC for it
[editline]9th March 2018[/editline]
It'll fit in pretty much any case
Just snagged this

thanks though
Was a joke, the 560 is like a quarter of the power of a 1080ti

I never got around to making a GTX 285 vs R9 285 video. I still have the GTX.
Should I bother with the NZXT Phantom 410?
To add onto this.. I'm only looking into getting it for the 5.25' bays.

Shit dude I sold mine 1 month ago for 250, people will buy it up for a good price
Haven't upgraded my PC since Sandy Bridge and looking to get a new motherboard/CPU/RAM setup in one go, have some questions. Bear in mind that I'm aiming for general use, gaming and the occasional bit of simple video editing.
What reasons would I have to pick Ryzen over Coffee Lake or vice versa?
If I go with Intel, could I reasonably get away with something like an i3-8350K or would it be better to go with an i5-8400? Also, why is the latter cheaper than the former?
Can I expect RAM prices to drop sometime in the near future or should I just come to terms with shelling out either 80-90 euros for a single stick of 8GB or 180 for 16GB?
what sort of gaming? if you just play simple stuff like dota, league, cs i think the 2200g might be a good option depends what you already have though.
i would say the benefit of ryzen is in most productivity task more cores and threads outperforms high clock speeds
i wouldnt expect ram prices to return to what they were any time soon
Simple stuff like League but also occasional 'heavier' games like Civ or Dying Light. Currently sitting on an i5-2400 with 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1060, the 3GB version.
While we're on the subject, I might also get a new monitor. With a GPU like that, worth going up to 2560x1440 or 2560x1080 or no?
with a 1060 the apu i suggested wouldnt make sense as for 1440p some games would perform badly with only 3gb vram but a lot of games now let you adjust the internal scaling so you could always turn settings down where needed and in general 1440 is absolutely worth it
I was looking at a Ryzen 5 1600 build, spend a few tenners extra to beef things up a little. Probably sticking with 1080p and maybe upgrading my 1060 to its 6GB sibling somewhere down the line.

The i3-8350K is overclockable, but I'd go for the i5-8400. Games that depend highly on single core throughput will still do fine on the i5 compared to the i3, but games are getting more and more multithreaded, and I honestly don't think four cores will cut it in a few years. You'll also need a more expensive board for the i3 if you want to overclock.
And I doubt RAM prices will drop soon, so if you "need" to upgrade, there's really no point in holding your breath.

I wouldn't say I 'need' to upgrade but like I said, I'm on 7-year old hardware so that itch is not gonna get any better.

Well from what I've seen it seems like we're talking years until prices might come down again.
I'm currently on the fence between building a small portable ITX build or just building an ATX build that I'll try to get as small as possible. I'm building it for my VR business and the other computer I use is also an ATX build, I was thinking that I could switch out the CPU + mobo of the original ATX build to put them in the second build but it'll be sacrificing some portability. Do you guys have any recommendations for a small portable ATX case, preferably with a handle?
Do you think it's worth waiting a month to see if the 1600 drops with the Ryzen 2 launch?
Please excuse me if this isn't the right thread; but if anyone is interested I just upgraded to a Ryzen and have an i5 7600K that doesn't even have a year of use put into it along with case/mobo/psu/minor accessories that I'm looking to get rid of. Could be a cheap base to an upgrade for someone in need. PM me if you're looking for something like that.
Where are you at? Since flagdog is bork.

What do you guys think, it's currently on offer for like $60 off and it seems to have pretty strong reviews - It's a ryzen 1600 build and my Mobo is a B350 Tomahawk
