Some people like it, some people don't have strong enough computers to run anything better, some people they have problems with any other theme, or they found that _____ runs better with that theme.

Maybe their CPU, RAM, and all that other stuff is up to par, but not their graphics card?

Aero seemed like a graphics hog, I get pretty much of a performance gain when I set it to Classic as in gaming performance.

Aero is disabled when a game goes fullscreen. Not to mention DWM only really takes up resources when a thumbnail is being displayed or a window is being moved, otherwise it stops constantly rendering and stays as-is. You could get an application to monitor DWM and it'll show you it's rendering at 0FPS when nothing's going on. The only thing it'll do is take up ~30MB of RAM.
Hardest part is choosing the wallpaper. So much to choose from ._.
