Yeah a few ways actually now, I've been told Bettertouchtool does it (and is free). I use Cinch though, which is nagware unless you buy it. There's also a third option which is a general window management system, but I cannot remember the name.
Thank you, I will have to try that out on the college macs, the UI has been pissing me off as late, this will make it bareable.
Thank you, I will have to try that out on the college macs, the UI has been pissing me off as late, this will make it bareable.
That was my biggest complaint, there isn't really a fullscreen button without third party apps.
Even the one in your taskbar?
Whoops, didn't notice that one.
That was my biggest complaint, there isn't really a fullscreen button without third party apps.
OSX really doesnt encourage having a single window taking presidence over the rest, you are supposed to have all of your programs spattered EVERYWHERE.
OSX really doesnt encourage having a single window taking presidence over the rest, you are supposed to have all of your programs spattered EVERYWHERE.
that's stupid Also: "precedence". Normally I'd just change the word and bold it so I don't look like an asshole, but since the bulk of my post is "that's stupid" that could be taken the wrong way.
I need spellcheck for firefox. [editline]13th December 2011[/editline] But really though, you can either meticulously resize your open windows to take up as much space as possible or... You just leave them how they are and have then splattered allover your desktop. Its probably just a bit of OCD on my part but I dont like it.
that's stupid
Well, gestures make it really easy to switch between windows, and it's supposed to be for 'multitasking'. I either don't get it, or I'm just not drinking the koolaid.
And yes I do genuinely like the wallpaper, not because it's bundled with OS X.

Not a fan of having the arrow, makes me less productive.
I don't see anything down there you'd need to be constantly clicking things like rocketdock are extremely useful
Pretty much everything except MSE and CCC I click regularly, and Rockdock is a bit "mac'y" for my tastes, no idea why I'd need it other than to have regularly used programs in it but those are in my start menu.
Says the guy with a Snow Leopard background
The backgrounds Apple bundles in with Macs aren't "Maccy" at all, they're just nice backgrounds. I've got the default space-y one somewhere.
Honestly, the only backgrounds that are made for the OS is the default 7 one
Says the guy with a Snow Leopard background
How is that relevant at all. The wallpapers are extremely nice.
How is that relevant at all. The wallpapers are extremely nice.
Says the guy who wants/has a mac No no no, I'm kidding, don't worry, I agree. I think I have the andromeda galaxy picture from lion floating around in a wallpaper folder.
How is that relevant at all.
not to be an asshole, but what is it that you do that requires you to be so "productive"
Nah man, I know exactly what he means by that. I'm switching between Origin, Steam, Green Garbage Bag 2.0, uTorrent and Windows Update all the time.
Nah man, I know exactly what he means by that. I'm switching between Origin, Steam, Green Garbage Bag 2.0, uTorrent and Windows Update all the time.
yeah which makes no sense, why do you need to switch between uTorrent and Windows Update you click a few things every once in a while and then leave them alone to download
I hide all of my "background" applications but any program which I turn on and off stays out of the arrow menu so I know it's still running. Mine would look pretty similar to David Tennant's minus the USB device manager, Windows update, Ethernet/network thing and Action Center. I rarely have that many programs open at once anyway. Dropbox only gets enabled when I using it and then it's off again.
alright, I cleaned up my desktop a bit, what do you guys think?
Wallpaper?
Wallpaper?
You want it? It's yours, my friend.
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Desktop001.png[/img_thumb] I've had a dark wallpaper for a while so I decided to change to something lighter; still keeping very minimal.

I posted my folder of wallpapers in that one thread that got DDT'd and had a few people ask me to upload them. Here you go: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3870664/wallpaper.7z The archive contains these pictures:

wallbase.cc is also an excellent source of wallpapers in high resolution for anyone that hasn't heard of it yet.
