You forgot that it was anime, and the worst possible one at that.
I avoid mentioning that like the plague. Mentioning that only results in flamewars regardless of what I'm actually saying about it.

Looking for actual advice on improving this one.
- Turn on Windows Aero, or switch to Windows Classic. "Windows Basic" is ass ugly.
- Why does your Steam shortcut use the Minecraft icon? This isn't a bad thing for the most part, just confusing.
- EMPTY YOUR FUCKING RECYCLE BIN GOD DAMN IT

I'm aware of that. I could sum up plenty of advantages of Rainmeter, so I got that one covered. As for anime, it is a matter of taste.
So my first desktop post

got a link for that wallpaper? 1080p would be nice
Here you go
haha wow I didn't even know that's what that was, oh well it looks cool

And someone can provide applications that do the same that use less collective RAM or are built into Windows already.

And require more time to open and use more resources while open and not look as nice.
Seriously, Rainmeter isn't this horrible thing you make it out to be.
I use it to neatly replace that old ugly-ass recycle bin. While most people plain old get rid of it on the desktop completely, I still need it because sometimes I have to dig something out later that wasn't meant to be deleted, without restoring the icon just for that moment.
But Deeps will probably think my simple and good-looking application of Rainmeter is dumb.
haha wow I didn't even know that's what that was, oh well it looks cool
You don't know what that is?
It's Rainbow Dash's Cutie Mark from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
or lack thereof
Well, I guess that's your loss, bro.
And someone can provide applications that do the same that use less collective RAM or are built into Windows already.
As Manning said, Rainmeter is easy to set up, looks nice and it is overall far more useful than a blank desktop. Nowadays you can get 8GB RAM for like 40 bucks, so your RAM argument is irrelevant.

That's fine, I was merely surprised you didn't know what it was.
Simply giving context.
There's no Rainmeter for OS X, so I made my own.

My desktop was really boring till I saw this thread. Got some inspiration, downloaded rainmeter and made this:

If you really need to know when the sun sets and rises and the UV Index, at least don't make it BRIGHT RED.
Not to mention two clocks, two CPU usage meters (per core) and two RAM usage meters.
[editline]23rd December 2011[/editline]
And to whoever said Rainmeter was easy to set up, I disagree. To get Rainmeter working, sure, but you need to take time to make it look good.
I don't see any advantages Rainmeter has over using the normal built-in way.
If you need to monitor the CPU usage, you have to look in Task Manager to see what uses so much CPU time anyway. Same goes for memory usage.
If you're low on hard disk space, you also need to take extra steps to see what's what anyway.

Plus, I believe there's a pretty cool application called Steam that organizes all of your games together.. Even games that aren't on Steam!
Edit:
Or even a folder of some kind.. damn

I look on the second monitor. Personally who gives a fuck? It's not your desktop. I accept the criticism but holy fuck it's severe. And I'm fucking lazy. Much easier with Rainmeter telling me what's going on.
And I like having icons. Sorry I'm not a completely clean desktop kinda person.
Damn, people really are different. Hmm

Can you link the wallpaper, preferably at 1080p or bigger? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

I hate the colors on your rainmeter config so much.

Yes, it was so difficult. It took me almost 10 minutes to get my Rainmeter right!
