Flagdog (the flag at the bottom left of every post) says you're in the US. So there's only two reasons I can think of for needing to keep track of the USD-Euro exchange rate that closely:
- You purchase a LOT of foreign goods.
- You're using a proxy and actually live in some other country (which buys a lot of goods from the US and/or the EU as a common part of the economy).

Jesus H. Christ. The actions of the Federal Reserve affect the value of the dollar every day. Checking exchange rates is a simple and effective way to track that (in tandem with other information, of course).
Perhaps this information will help you to understand my interest in exchange rates of currencies: My current path has me on track to major in Political Science.
As uninteresting as that subject may seem to you, it fascinates me in all it's many facets, including currency strength and reliability.

Oh my god. I used to use that for school. I HATE PRO/DESKTOP. Any time you try to make something of detail it will either error or not save properly so you can't open back up again.

I agree, Odellus get your foot out of your mouth. After all it's not a matter of who is right or not, it's personal opinion alltogether. I like having gadgets on my desktop too, showing rather useless information for most part but I like having them there.
Here's mine, complete with overused Token icons and Soft7. Not thumbed because it's only 1280x1024.

The big clock's because I'm using a 40" TV as a screen, and reading the clock from across the room is difficult.
The CPU meter's easy, every 1/4th is a core.
