I should clean up the game shortcuts on the left but I do use several of those things on a regular basis. And some such as the two folders on the right are temporary download folders to help prevent my desktop from getting too cluttered.

Quite honestly, I don't even see my desktop that much, my computer looks like this almost 24/7 as I'm working on stuff.
And yes, I'm on reddit a lot, usually looking for gaming trends to jump on.

Yeah I'm still working on it, it doesn't help that I have a 15" Laptop screen but as I only look at my desktop once or twice a day it doesn't bother me too much.

I love that program, I can lay in bed and run my podcasts as I'm falling asleep.
As for resolution, I get that with more you have more to play with, but I don't see how the fact that I have a big monitor means I'm more likely to not view my desktop.
