Just right click on your task bar and there it is.
And then click Resource monitor to go even DEEPER into it:

Rainmeter is useless IMO.
Speaking of Rainmeter, who was that guy that used to rate all rainmeter setups as dumb? And where is he?
Redesigned my clock.

[QUOTE=LaserOfDoom;30756915]There's nothing dumb with that. If you don't think you'll need rainmeter, don't use it. People who just put stuff like that on their desktop and don't use it are pretty dumb. I find it useful to see quick info like system stats when I need it just by accessing the desktop, but it's not for everybody.[/QUOTE]
I use Rainmeter on my secondary monitoring for monitoring CPU and graphics card temperatures. Key word being secondary monitor though. It'd be utterly useless on my main monitor since it'd always be covered up.
snips

Resource Monitor FTW

Disagree. Some people might not want to CTRL + ALT + ESC and click a tab to see their CPU/RAM usage when they can minimize (or use Show Desktop). And it can add to instead of detract from the desktop in some cases. If you know what you're doing anyway.

Ca5bah's main got perma'd, and he decided that he wasn't going to steer his alt into this thread apparently. He posts in the Music section a lot though, and is actually a good person there - has been before his perma too, matter of fact.

Constant resource drain vs. right click and its there...

I just like having notes and drive space instantly there and I can spare the memory

Windows key + E for drive space. Notes, no argument I can think of for that besides doing what I do with a notepad on my actual desk.
And I can spare the memory too, but its still a waste.
oh jeeze 10mb of ram
crippling!!

The other day when I ran it it was at 40k with just a google bar open. That's fucked up.
Mine only uses 5mb. It shouldn't be used "just because" but it does have its uses and is customizable to suit different needs

My Rainmeter setup uses 17MB of RAM with: a CPU usage meter, RAM usage and swap usage, uptime, CPU temp meter for each core, network meter, free space meter for all three of my hard drives, a clock, a weather thing, and a graphics card skin that measures temperature, fan speed, GPU usage, current framerate, memory usage, and the current voltage and clock speeds. Out of 8GB of available RAM that's negligible for quite a bit of convenience.

I began to read this as one of those horrible movie trailers...
"In a world where computers have 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, 12GB of memory... One man defies the normal conventions of computing and uses BLAH BLAH BLAH"

So, what's the framerate of your desktop? :v:
[QUOTE=Dr. Deeps;30758618]So, what's the framerate of your desktop? :v:[/QUOTE]
Doesn't monitor my desktop actually. I'd assume 60FPS though, same as my monitor refresh rate.

So why monitor the FPS of a game on your desktop when you can't see that meter?
It's on my secondary monitor.
[url]http://horobox.co.uk/u/Onyx3173_1309249590.png[/url] (Not even gonna image tag that.)
All my Rainmeter stuff is just to the right of any game I'm playing so it's actually useful. That's also my excuse for actually having a Rainmeter clock. It's a lot simpler than alt+tabbing (or exiting my game if it's not alt+tab friendly) just to check the time.

Fair enough. Yours has usage. But single monitor and all of that would be a waste.
Also, 110 hours!? REALLY!?
Actually even more than that. I used the widescreen hack for about 30 hours before the game was patched for widescreen. I end up playing it a lot with friends for about a week after each update.
[QUOTE=Dr. Deeps;30758000]The other day when I ran it it was at 40k with just a google bar open. That's fucked up.[/QUOTE]
you ever consider that maybe that Google bar is what's terrible here?
Also, the Task Manager does not provide a running total of used RAM in the Processes tab. I'm not going to run a keystroke and then click to another tab just to check my RAM usage if I can achieve the same in just one click.
And before you go "oh boo hoo a keystroke :downs:" - if Rainmeter is not running (broken, not installed, something like that), and I wanted to look, I could do the keystroke. But if it's running, I'm not going to bother.
I personally don't see the use in Rainmeter.
I rarely look at my desktop, since both my monitors are usually covered. And even then, I don't need to see my CPU/RAM/disk usage constantly. If I need to see my CPU/RAM usage, I open task manager, because I'd want to close the process that is using up too much CPU.
If I need to see free disk space, I'd open up explorer, so that I can do something about it.
A clock is really only useful on a second monitor, and even then, you have one on your taskbar.
I won't complain if someone uses Rainmeter and it looks good. But for the love of god, don't use Rainmeter simply because you can. It is dumb to have 3+ clocks on your desktop, and having a CPU/RAM meter on 5 different places.

Learned a new shortcut today.
It's not so much an issue of memory usage as it is just fundamentally unnecessary. But everyone is entitled to do whatever the hell they want with their computers, and who am I to stop them. It's all about personal preference, and my preference is not to use such programs.

I was trying to run cmd by doing windows key + R and then cmd but i hit windows key + E and thought it was cool.
I stopped using it because it was starting to irritate me that it was sitting there
Don't get me wrong, I still like Rainmeter and it's proper uses but my likes change a lot so now I just like keeping it simple
Just installed W7 and all of my shit.
[img]http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/ae105/FullStreak/desktop-2.jpg[/img]
My wallpaper changes every twelve hours to different cities like Seattle, London, Paris, New York, etc.
Keeping it minimal:

Stole my icons!
Well I took them from someone else too, he had a laptop and his wallpaper was a photo of a beach he took that day.
Still fucking around in Conky. :v:
