Spent way too much time screwing around with my desktop tonight, i'm satisfied with the skins. The wallpaper is just temporary for now, I will probably make a new one tomorrow in 3ds max... probably... maybe... possibly... depends on if I feel motivated or not.

Three clocks and calendars, incl. the Windows ones. Why?

I needed something in that space on my desktop, so I filled it in with what I could.
so no purpose other than aesthetics.

Except it doesn't look good.

There is another computer I use for DX10+ only games like Shattered Horizon and Just Cause 2, but it's fucking Vista, so I have most of my shit on this old XP system. I'm waiting for funds to buy Windows 7 and dual boot this gaming rig to the next level.

Oh christ. I forgot how bad XP looked. Also, Vista is not bad anymore. Sure, it was fucking shit at launch but after that it was amazing.
Other than being the worst operating system I have ever used, sure.

Windows Vista isn't retarded unless you're retarded; I had absolutely no problem with it whatsoever. As long as you know what you're doing and how to work your way through Windows you're absolutely fine. All of the Windows Vista hate is simply due to mob mentality.

Not true at all, I installed Vista, and hated how bloated it was. So I stuck with XP until 7 came out. The performance difference between Vista (No SP) and 7 (No SP) is night and day.

I never had a single problem with it, and I used it since alpha (legally; via MSDN). The problems people had were due largely to the relatively high system requirements and bitterness over changes to aesthetics followed by ignorance.

Vista runs slower than 7 here. Even after Vista SP1.
Admittedly, SP1 makes Vista tolerable, but aside from the odd DX10 game here and there, there's still no real reason to use it over XP.
That said, if you're going to use XP, switch it's Visual Style to Windows Classic.

My vista capable (came with XP got free vista disk and CD key once it was released) laptop vomited it up rather well straight after install, windows media player crashed on startup, windows live messenger crashed on startup and it had numerous hanging problems, even though the computer was far over the minimum requirements.

This never stopped happening to me until I switched to Windows 7 :v: I never used wmp anyways, VLC FTW!

I remember running a test about how much memory both used. And 7 used more RAM on a fresh install and took up more space. Vista SP0 may not be as snappy as 7 but it's nonsense to compare Vista SP0 when there's SP2 which is significantly faster.

I always benchmark with the RTM releases. Do as you please, I stick with my method.

I thought we where past this years ago? It caches shit since there's no reason to leave ram unused when there's plenty available. This has no negative effects when applications are run as they take precedence.

I'm well aware of SuperFetch and its memory caching and I've always been first to say what you're saying now. I'm strictly speaking about RAM in use, not standby / cached. Not to mention SuperFetch and the other memory management functions are pretty much the same in Vista as they are in 7.

Wouldn't it be a better to compare the latest at the same time? Because for example if you compare Vista SP0 to 7 SP0, 7 SP0 will still have the patches / performance fixes from Vista's Service Packs.

Edit - Try this, might look out of the color but hey i try'ed.
Edit 2 - might need to cycle the battery later on.
Edit 3 - sorry if i misread your post ASmellyOgre really i am sorry but it's just that' changing the background would do it and i'd rather not get in trouble with the owner of the theme.
I wish there was a blue android themed thingy but there isn't (from my search there wasn't).
Just modify that one. I can't imaging changing all instances of green to blue and editing a few images would be very hard.
Finally changed to a new desktop.

I'm surprised you don't have a Daft Punk start orb. :v:
Dicked around with rainmeter on my laptop for a bit, came up with this... I think it looks nice, what do you guys think?

Just realized and fixed the ninja watermark in the bottom left under my task bar.
Do you honestly need a gadget telling you that your self-referential IP address is 127.0.0.1?

There's one? Where can I get it?

Should I change the Icons to large or leave it like this?

Some videos require quicktime to play, nero is for burning to CDs(which I do alot of), and all that HP shit is from having an HP printer and an HP monitor(installs itself for no fucking reason). I'm uninstalling realplayer because you reminded me to(it's total shit).
