Changed it since last post, it looks much better now [t]http://i.imgur.com/qzEWZ.jpg[/t] If anyone knows how I can change my icons so that I don't lose productivity yet gain visual aesthetics, I'm all ears.

It looks really nice. And using collapsible grids should remove some clutter.

However, about half of the visible ones are made by me. I'm actually looking for a replacement because they still look sort of shitty without the jpeg rape. Double post bug, awesome.
Simpler way to center your icons: http://solo-dev.deviantart.com/art/TaskDock-158637418
It's always off-center for me. Always. And it has a bad habit of jumping around when an item is added/removed, or I open the extended system tray.

Not implying anything, not trying to be offensive nor defensive, merely wondering in what way my desktop is dumb, or why you claim me to be dumb for having such a desktop.

I don't think it looks particularly good, I'd get rid of it if i wasn't using it, but implying that someone is stupid for such a silly reason is quite a pants on head retarded reason if i may say so.
oh and the fact that you have a huge clock on your desktop and on your taskbar.
oh and the fact that you have a huge clock on your desktop and on your taskbar.

Desktop which you've all already seen http://horobox.reager.org/u/failboat_1313990913.jpg and the laptop that i usually use for "work" the wallpaper isn't lossy, i just compress all the desktop screenies because its a massive waste of space and bandwidth to save every single one of them as a 2mB+ png.
where? I should get rid of the hard drive monitor and slap on a cpu temp instead tho.
i just compress all the desktop screenies because its a massive waste of space and bandwidth to save every single one of them as a 2mB+ png.
I rated dumb because of that.
I have a 100/10mbps line, albeit i've noticed that most people don't. Clearly the second image would compress rather well in png, albeit the first would most certainly wind up as a 3mB file at the very least. Why exactly should i upload a screenshot of my desktop as psuedo-lossless?
You could've cropped it and filled the rest with that same gray.
Well its compressed, I'd think that he'd rather have the lossless version of it.
Rainmeter. Artemis/Ca5bah rates you dumb if you have the slightest hint of Rainmeter. I have no idea who the other guy is. Ca5bah, er sorry, ~Artemis~, used to outright flame people for Rainmeter. Personally I'd rather he be somehow prevented from viewing the Post Your Desktop thread (and whatever spinoff threads are floating around Facepunch), but as long as he doesn't actually post about it I don't give half a shit if he flings boxes everywhere.
He does have a point though. 9 out of 10 desktops with Rainmeter are absolutely awful.
He does have a point though. 9 out of 10 desktops with Rainmeter are absolutely awful.
ehh yes and no I'll give you the 9 out of 10, but 9 out of 10 people on the internet are also idiots - so it's not really Rainmeter's fault. But that's not the point he's trying to make. He used to spew shit about how Rainmeter would take up half your resources (which it would on a 486 computer maybe) and would constantly spam screenshots of him having top open in a terminal and saying it's far superior to Rainmeter. Hell, some of it probably became CIPWTTKT content. Now top is a good way to do it, but the problem with that is Windows doesn't have top (or indeed, a useful terminal to begin with). Cygwin's an almighty bitch to get working correctly and you'd probably have to pull a lot of shit out of your ass in the source code to make top work natively in Windows, just running it through MinGW is probably not going to do it. So really the only two solutions to having a CPU and RAM meter right there are Rainmeter and Windows Gadgets - and Rainmeter probably takes up a bit less.
Yeah, Rainmeter is using 16MB of RAM. It's powering a clock, Date, Music player display, two hard drive spaces, the weather, CPU usage, RAM, GMail, FOUR RSS feeds, and network traffic. Totally worth it. [editline]26th August 2011[/editline] On my setup, at least

Just 90% of the uses in this thread look BAD. EDIT: WTF I accidently the graphs in that screenshot...
The task manager takes up by far too much space on a 1600x900 resolution. And it doesn't show the temperature of the cpu, so i'd have to run hwmonitor next to it.

Also for some reason it takes up 5-10% of my CPU when running. And I have an ancient CPU (probably why).
