How did you get your taskbar looking like that? Also you can make the rightclick menus look like classic by modifying the registry, but I don't remember where exactly, I think UserPreferencesMask or something like that.

Awsome thank you but... The windows still have a large border and the taskbar is not like yours. I executed all the .reg files and the .exe, reboted the machine and used the "disable taskbar transparency" of ClassicShell.
How did you get the theme management window ?
I use a fresh install of win 8.0 in virtual machine.
Thank you !
OK for the large border, we must use de DESKN.CPL. There's other settings like background etc... The latest tab seems to be the one where we can set the taskbar but I get an error
"The currently selected graphics display driver can not be used. It is either missing or not properly configured. The system has been started using VGA default driver. Please reinstall the graphics display driver using the Display option in the Windows NT control panel".
Is it due to Virtualbox ?

No it's due to the fact that the deskn.cpl file is from Windows 2000 beta and it can't read Windows 8 display settings properly, so don't worry about the settings section.
Ok so how did BatmanBinSupa do to display the taskbar properly ?

Look at the link I posted earlier it says how to do it there. But I still don't know how to make it perfect like in FluD's screenshot.
Yes, FluD, how indeed you made the taskbar to appear correctly?

it's dwm.exe, replace it with any dump exe
So you switched off the compositing? This is another way...
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=383450
But I thought you just disabled themes as you liknked that program prevuously.

Disabling themes while keeping compositing on has the advantage of having no tearing.

I renamed C:\Windows\System32\dwm.exe to dwm.exe.old an I created a new text file called dwm.exe that put in C:\Windows\System32\ after taking ownership of this folder. The system (x64) doesn't boot I get a black screen. Could you give us your "dump" dwm.exe file ?
Thank you !

See the link above. There is a program that automatically replaces the file with a dummy.
I used the dwm.exe file in the 7zip file given here :

Same problem : black screen after reboot.
When I disable dwm, a right part of desktop is inaccessible. I found out that it's the search pane, but I can't get rid of it. How to fix it?
I tried the batch file : the taskbar disappears and nothing appends. When I press any key I get an error telling me that C:\Windows\dwm.exe cannot be found. When I don't press any key and I reboot, no changes !
I've tested so many cases, could someone give us the exact process to reach the goal ?
I'm using 8.0 but I'd like to make it work in 8.1 too.
Thank you
No idea ?
Alright I decided to try disabling DWM and I'm also getting the stupid right-sidebar thing that won't go away unless I kill explorer.exe. Does anyone know how to fix this it's really annoying.
Finally I got it...

It's nearly perfect, just some window border being transparent (maybe they're self-drawn?) like IE, FF, Chrome..., taskbar jump-lists are white-background, taskbar window title is transparent.
I used StartIsBack for taskbar coloring, don't know if there's any software out there can change it like SIB (set taskbar color to black, it will get rid of the white background in taskbar). In HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM, edit:
ColorizationAfterglowBalance = 0
ColorizationColor = ffd4d0c8
ColorizationColorBalance = 64 (hex) or 100 (decimal)
Another method is to disable DWM (you'll get perfect classic theme), but it will leave IE broken, UAC can't dim the screen, search pane being black-colored and always on top of the screen, some metro pop-up will just stay on screen (i.e updates are available pop-up), welcome screen & Metro UI will be all black. Some of these problem can be solved by killing some thread of explorer.exe with ProcessExplorer (to disable Metro UI and get rid of search pane) and use auto login. Anyway it's not recommended to disable DWM.
About the windows 7 style explorer, I used OldNewExplorer by Tihiy.
If you really want to disable dwm without the whole of Windows crapping out on you you MIGHT be able to replace dwm.exe with the minimal dwm shipped with the minimal dwm.exe shipped with the IoT minwin, I haven't tried it and I don't run Windows often enough to check but you can get the minwin files from https://connect.microsoft.com/windowsembeddedIoT

Hey I would like to try this but the link you provided doesn't seem to load anything on the page.

What happens if to run the theme disabler After the taskbar is already running?
For instance, first disable DWM, taskbar runs in classic mode, then enable DWM but disable theming.

Does running them in compatibility mode help? Also what about Seamonkey?

Install theme disabler and read my previous post.

The taskbar will go white. Use some software like StartIsBack to change taskbar color.

It could still have some problem. I haven't tried it.
Also what about Seamonkey?
I haven't used Seamonkey before so I don't know...
