I find that it's worth it, especially if you want Nvidia surround like me (2+ Monitors)
more like 3 and 3 only
Just to be sure that means 4 GPU's and not 4 cards, right? For example if you had a dual GPU card (like the GTX590) would you be able to SLI 2 cards, or 4?
There are some cards that are quad SLI capable like the Classified GTX 285. [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] But yeah the maximum amount of GPUs is 4. [editline]13th March 2011[/editline] So no, you can't have 4 dual GPU cards.
more like 3 and 3 only
With the new Dual 460 GPU from EVGA you can have up to 4 monitors outside of NV surround, or 3 monitors while in surround.
I heard that some people run into lots of problems with SLI, I have yet to see any problems with my new 460 SLI rig.
With the new Dual 460 GPU from EVGA you can have up to 4 monitors outside of NV surround, or 3 monitors while in surround.
I just stated that surround is only 3 monitors, also SLi only supports 2 monitors(besides surround), you need to set them as individual video cards afaik
Dual PSUs :science:
Two of these Oh god, that would be amazing.
All done. Thanks everybody who helped.
the 460 and 460 SE are not the same card, the SE is a weaker version [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] and unless you're rendering or something, you'll get nothing from the extea 4GB RAM
the 460 and 460 SE are not the same card, the SE is a weaker version [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] and unless you're rendering or something, you'll get nothing from the extea 4GB RAM
So they can't SLI together? This is the one I currently have, I think. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130570&cm_re=evga_gtx_460-_-14-130-570-_-Product
I think they can but it will lower the performance of the original card to match http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127551 is a full 460
I think they can but it will lower the performance of the original card to match http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127551 is a full 460
So I should I go with this one instead? [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] Not to be a ricer, but I actually kinda' like how that MSI looks.
yes if you want full 460 SLi the 460 SE performs worse than the 768MB version, except in specific circumstances where the extra VRAM is needed
yes if you want full 460 SLi the 460 SE performs worse than the 768MB version, except in specific circumstances where the extra VRAM is needed
I'll go with that one then. Stupid question, but I've just recently gotten into doing my own build so hey, sue me, but anyway it'll come with the SLI strip thing right? My EVGA had one but I've lost it.
SLi connectors are bundled with motherboards, if they're SLi certified (aka capable of SLi and have two PCI-E slots at 8x/8x or higher)
SLi connectors are bundled with motherboards, if they're SLi certified (aka capable of SLi and have two PCI-E slots at 8x/8x or higher)
My EVGA GTX 460 came with one, but I have no clue where it is.
not according the the newegg page you linked, the included bundle is a mini HDMI to full HDMI adapter, two 2xMolex to PCI-E power adapters and a DVI to VGA adapter as far as I'm aware only AMD cards include their multi-GPU connectors, while nvidia only has theirs packaged with capable motherboards which specific motherboard do you have

the P55V, so that should have come with an SLi bridge [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] the top left
he said his current 460 came with one either way if OP can't find it you could get one cheap on ebay
I do know that EVGA ones come with the bridge, but I wouldn't know about MSi
I do know that EVGA ones come with the bridge, but I wouldn't know about MSi
you can see the accessory bundles in newegg's pictures, neither of the cards (or any card I've checked so far) includes an SLi bridge
you can see the accessory bundles in newegg's pictures, neither of the cards (or any card I've checked so far) includes an SLi bridge
might be different in america, I'm an eurofag and SLi bridges were included with my two GTX460
you can see the accessory bundles in newegg's pictures, neither of the cards (or any card I've checked so far) includes an SLi bridge
The EVGA GTX 460 I purchased included an SLI bridge, which I misplaced. That's why I was trying to figure out if the MSI you linked came with one or not. [editline]14th March 2011[/editline] Otherwise, will http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815121010 work?
Well, do you really need to SLI? Like, do you run too low fps for it to be playable?
Well, do you really need to SLI? Like, do you run too low fps for it to be playable?
I have a SOLID FPS, I would just like the performance increase since I have the money to spare.
you can get the connectors much cheaper on ebay
or Amazon. They got em for like $10
Thanks guys, this helped a lot. On a side note, is it safe to unplug or plug in a 4-pin when my PC is on? I have the case opened cause I was looking at something.
If it's a peripheral device like a fan or light, it's fine. Unless you're running a really bad powersupply, then the voltage might fluctuate, but I doubt it.
